New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

the problem is the on road touring manners.....most of us daily drive our rigs right?

sorry but even the bronco with IFS wont get it right compared to the poise of the Defender.... evasive maneuvers in a JKU on 35s was fun..

a bronco with steel bumpers and armor is going to drive like a boat, just like my rubicon and sahara JKU builds did.
sure its not the old defender, but it should be the best offroader they make, and comparable to any other 4x4 on the market.

picking up my Godwana stone Defender p400 today....the price discussion needs not be discussed when comparing these vehicles...if you want a defender, youll get it.
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE if your looking for Daily driving comforts.

I daily drive a Ram 3500 DRW that weighs 13,000#. I think I'll be able to manage.

I can still outfit a Subaru Outback for ya'll. Tons of poise. Oring tires are extra though.

I am kinda concerned about the Bronco’s front diff with 35’s or 37’s. It’s a Spicer M190 clamshell which is the weaker version of the LR3/4 front diff. It’ll probably be fine but it’s definitely a concern IMO.

The locker version is the M210 with 8.66 ring gear. This is the one you have doubts about?

Like I've said 100 times, buy what you like. If you like the bronco, get the bronco. If you like the Defender, get the defender.... Personally, living in north america, 98% of my driving is on-road. I need the best possible on-road vehicle which will also get anywhere I want to go off road.

To me, the JLUR is the opposite with the most extreme off-road capability and marginal (but much improved) road manners.

The bronco should land somewhere in the middle.

Buy what makes you happy.

I was under the impression the one with a front locker and 35’s had the M190 which IMO would not be strong enough but it doesn’t have that diff it has the bigger M210. So no issue there. Carry on.

I mean I figured we were comparing everything to the Defender in this thread I was just pointing out what could’ve been a potential issue with the Bronco.

Anything is better than the Defender last I checked :p It's basically a Kia Rio except less reliable and more expensive.

That was my impression too. I love the Defender, but the Bronco is going to be considerably cheaper and lets you take the top off. That's a high bar to beat. The Defender does have a head start though.

The thread is for intelligently and occasionally mindlessly trashing the Defender .... although there ended up being a lot on here who seem to think it's for displaying blind loyalty to LR and calling anyone who ever has anything negative to say about the Defender a troll.

There are a lot of very fair criticism's of the tack that LR chose to take with the Defender and as the Grenadier and now Bronco has come out we have real world manifestations of several things people have been critiquing about the Defender to prove the point.

I'll say this again. Land Rover's critical error was Gerry McGovern's rejection of the aftermarket industry that turns a platform into a hobby and drives sales. While I get that some aftermarket companies investing in the Defender, the Bronco strategy goes far beyond Land Rover and will challenge Jeep in aftermarket support. It is a critical aspect of why Jeep volume far exceeds Land Rover.

$100 refundable deposit does nothing but allow you to release the headline 'already sold out.' Tesla did the same for the Cybertruck in a more extreme manner without having an actual vehicle that had even been considered for production.

Either way I'm glad Ford has a proper 4x4, the same way I'm glad the JL exists, and how I'm glad the new Defender exists, and if Toyota ever releases anything more than a new color, that'll be cool too.

I'm not a loyalist to anyone (currently got Italian, British, japanese, and american toys) - but I'm gonna keep calling out people to pretend to be able to instantly out-design LR with a quick internet post. Like whomever claimed their common sense was better than an SAE test :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
