For the lift side of the pump... get the AirDog100... no problems with it... love mine...

Had both FASS, and A/D... prefer the A/D... quieter, easier to get filter replacements, etc...

You DO NOT want that lift pump failing... PERIOD....heartache, and WALLET draining will occur....

i agree with that. but the air dog is a bit out of my price range. if the BD will last long enough to survive a year or so its probably worth the money.

Check on the Raptor lift pump.......

Other wise, I have a spare lift pump here.........

THe BD unit doesnt have the best reputation....

Take it from someone who no longer has a VP44 pump, nor the 24v motor for that matter.....

i have the raptor 150 lift pump i got from thoroughbred diesel in kentucky, its a nice pump and it can go up to a good pressure and adjustable. i run mine around the 16~psi range. worth the money i think

another good site for info you need is dieseltruckresource.
you should find out what your fuel pressure is, that will show you where you may need to start. running low fuel pressure is a sign of expensive things to come, if you don't get it resolved. not that I know anything, ken

I talked to a local shop today that has a pretty decent reputation. They told me than an FASS 100 ddrp will work. The problem is that the system is similar to trying to suck a milkshake through a straw from 30ft away. The pump can only suck so much at a time. A better pump will delay the problem for a while. Eventually i will have to move the pump closer to the tank. But for now i think the ddrp will save me some headache. Also i plan on putting in a fuel pressure guage. I am looking for something on a T fitting so i can put it between the lift pump and the injector pump. How hard is this to do?

there is already a fitting on the injection pump from factory. ALso if you want to do a good pump, a raptor 150 fits on the frame under the driver seat and it flows very well. cheaper than a full fass system

Yup I changed my mind to the Raptor system. Lifetime warrenty and whatnot.

So I have this idea. Im thinking about making a tent out of my tonnau cover. It lifts up and sits on 2 gas shocks so it will stay up. Any one ever do this?

DO NOT drive the truck if the lift pump is out, it will eventually damage the injector pump. I think mine was out before I left on vacation a couple of weeks ago so I put in a new F.A.S.S. replacement pump from Geno's Garage. Too late, the damage was done, the injector pump failed on the way home stranding me in Memphis. Luckily my sister-in-law lives there so we had a place to stay overnight. Also luckily Mid South Diesel is in Memphis and I got a rebuilt pump for $1200 vs the $2000+ the dealer wants for a new one. Mid South Diesel delivered the pump to the dealer I had the truck towed to and, long story short, I was on the road again 26 hours later and $2000 poorer (after parts and labor).

EDIT: Also adding a fuel gauge so I know if the lift pump goes out again!

There is a big canister looking thing between the lift pump and the injector pump. Is tht the fuel filter? If it is, can i run the hose to it instead of stright to the injector pump?

I ordered the raptor 100gph and it should be here this week.

I also hit up a swap meet on Sunday and scored new tires for $90, BFG AT's that have about 50 to 60% tread. Good enough to get me through the winter.

Anyone know what I should do about The leak I have comming from where the injecter tubes meet the fuel lines on the top of the head?

I got my pump and guage, total of $600 for it. $200 was the gauge. Im kinda scared of doing this on my own. I get the run new lines thing but some of the connections have me worried.

On the top of the fuel tank its a quick connect? hows that work?

and where the banjo bolt fits into the filter housing. do i take that whole thing out or just the bolt??? Any help or advice would be nice.

I broke down and had someone install the pump for me, they did a great job! but i was still left with that stupid fuel leak!

After much debate I went to the dealership and had a mechanic look at it. He insisted that it was the #2 fuel rail (the 2nd hardest one to replace) the elbow had a crack in it. I bet him it was the #3 injector tube. After 10 min of going back and forth we cleaned it up, and stared at it till one started leaking. Low and behold it was the #3 tube. We popped out the tube in about 5 seconds and the o ring was shot. He replaced it and now no fuel leak. But the bill came to $134, for a 20 cent o ring.

Anyway, to show that I had no hard feelings i bought the guy a pelican flashlight to replace his dying one. Hopefully this will lend me some karma for more service work down the road.
