New Faces for SPOT !!!

The two features I'd love to see in a new unit are:

- Lat/Lon display even if it doesn't have a full blown GPS mapping interface, this would allow it to be used with paper maps.

- NMEA0183 output port. Cheap, easy to add. For vehicle dependant travel this provides an easy way to connect it to a computer for large screen mapping.

- Ability to specify a message when sending a "Help" request... such as "Need RR half-shaft" or "Need Gas" or "Need Guinness". If one of my friends is going to drive a couple of hours down a trail to help me, this would give them an idea as to what to bring with them.

I say either "A" or "C", but I actually like the current unit more than any of them. I need to buy one fast.

EXCELLENT suggestions! Have you emailed or called SPOT with them? I bet they would appreciate the input!

Nope, I haven't submitted them. I probably should. I appreciate it when customers provide feedback, so I should do the same.

I'd love to see a cover on the Help and 911 buttons...especially since the first thing my wife did with mine was let my 2 year old play with it!

Version C...then Version A.

Changes...add a cover to prevent accidental button activation on the 911.
Even if the 911, needs to be depressed for a few seconds before activation, it would be safer to have a cover or more recessed below the surface.

I just took a "confidential" SPOT survey that suggested they are listening and reacting to market feedback. At the end of the survey, I linked them to this thread :)
