Anyone know anything about these tires? They were referenced over on ROF, but there was not much info.

Their 285 seems pretty narrow.

Yeah they actually look like they would be pretty descent on the trail. If they made them in 255's I'd give these serious thought. At the very low end of the MT price range they would not have to last too long to still be worth it.

They appear to be a full-on MT to me. Reminds me of the Dean MT that I saw today. Similar pattern, but these look more aggressive ie:higher void area.

Not those again

Yeah i used to sell those when i worked at a tire store around here. If they are anything like those ones. They are very aggressive but have really bad wear patterns on them. The only sizes i remember them coming in where 235-75-r15, 31x10.50xr15, 265-75-r16 and the 285s. When we first started selling them they sold well cause they where like 20 bucks a piece cheaper then the maxxis buckshot mudders. I would buy them only if its going to be a mud only tire. Just my two cents

These tyres, just to note, are on the smaller size in each size....for example, a 285 is 32.6 diameter whereas most other 285's are 32.9/33.1 diamter.

I really like the look of these. I'd love to see some like 36x9.00's or something more "Safari-esque" like those that you seem to find on alot of old series Rovers.

Now, wether it's worth buying a Chinese tire with some questionable wear charectaristics... That's another story.

Cheers

I am just hoping for a 255 but I'm pretty sure that is not going to happen. It's funny that Skinny tires were all there really was up until the late 80's and early 90's. Everyone was shouting for Wider tires. Now the progression is moving back towards skinny. I just wish more manufacturers would realize this movement. I would really like a true 34X10 on 16's, but that is not an option too often.

I agree they have a nice classic styling. But that's not enough to make me buy a set of tires. ;) I went with the Cooper S/T-C and couldn't be happier, and the styling on them is nice too. Aggresive, but not too crazy-modern.

My company sells lots of Federal tires, mostly car tires.
We do have a ton of the M/T's in our warehouse and I've looked at them up close.
They look like the ywould be pretty good in the mud, but I would have concerns they would wear quickly compared to some other M/T's out there.
The lugs are not as large as other tires, making them easier to chunk out, and get torn off while on the trail. Smaller lugs also wear quicker than larger ones.

I would put them on a vehicle that was mostly trail, with little to no long road stretches.
On a low-mileage vehicle, I think they would be a good inexpensive option.

bump,

been a while since this thread was started,

anybody with new experience with these tyres ? what sort of mileage are you getting out of them ?

I bought 6 of 35x12.5 R17 for my Iveco Daily 4x4 truck, at $300 each because the only tyre I could find with 124Q load rating I needed to get my truck registered, 3580lb /160kmh .

I see BFG KM2 are avaliable here now in that size but only 119Q 3074 lb rated.. (which might just scrape in)

The tread is way more aggressive than what I need, Mostly outback touring, I expect them to wear fast but 6000km on them now and still looking fine, they are the noisy on the truck, (almost like bar treads) i'm running between 35-38 psi , but the ride and balance is great .
