Received my new rain fly this weekend, 12/26. No recommended install instructions included. Kind of disappointed after paying $470.00 that they couldn't include some kind of instructions or even a THANK YOU.
So, I guess I'll have to depend on you guys to tell me how best to install. I'll also go back and read old post. They did get it shipped fast. Ordered on the 17th and received the 26th.
I believe I read somewhere that you slide one end over the rear and flip it over. Any personal recommendations would be appreciated. thx

What I do is loosly tie the front straps to the support rods. Install the fiberglass rod into the front vent. I unroll/ unfold the fly loosly onto the open tailgate, flippac back window is down and handles horizontal. Then i simply flip the top and the rainfly deploys over the flippac tent. It does hang up sometimes so you may have to close the top and rearrange the rainfly. Much easier if you have a helper. I loop the front straps to the mirrors and run a line in each back corner to the bumper. Only in windy conditions do I attach the side straps.

I do basically the same as Bintang does.

I tied some 550 cord on the front corners and loop them over the rod supports. I leave the rear straps on that attach to the bumper and use them to pull/adjust.

I never have to re-flip with this method, but I also have teh glass closed, and the rain fly loosely on the open tailgate.

We did a quick vid of the install. It shows me doing exactly what mb28 and bintang describe. I, too, loop the fly's corners around the struts. I actually take a slightly different approach, but it's the same idea.

I know some have struggled with the install. This fly was returned b/c the buyer felt it was too small. Karl made them a new one with a little more slack in the design. This install was done in a brisk breeze with the truck headed into the wind. Oriented differently, I could imagine some difficulty with the install. I find it most difficult to do in the dark, made more difficult by my dark-colored fly. A light colored fly might make nighttime install a little easier.

As you can see the fly fits just fine. It is snug, which I think is a good thing.

If you need some more suggestions on how to install, please shoot me a PM with your phone number. I am happy to call to discuss.

Above post pretty much sums it up with a couple addittions. First I also secure the back straps loosely to each corner of rear bumper to help align fly and probably what helped me most was rolling it up with the rear unwinding first . That way I can secure the rear straps and unroll on tailgate and the attach the front ones last before opening the entire unit. Sounds convoluted but it will be come clear after a time or two how important that how you stow it can determine ease of next use.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did view the video, helped alot. I took the fly out yesterday and tried to get an idea of it. One question, is there a front and rear to the fly? Looking at both ends, they looked the same and no markings on the fly or instructions from SLO. I guess I'll just have to try it when the weather calms down a little.

front or back? depends how many "windows" you have and placement. I leave the window stays in as I roll the fly up as opposed to folding it. If wind is blowing position truck into wind and move back where desired. A couple of dry runs doesn't hurt. Pun intended too. Fly retains any warmth also.

I wrote SLO and asked why there were no instructions included and they said there is a installation video on their website, and gave me the url in the email, but I wasn't able to view it. Says I don't have permission to view the page. Then I went to their website and checked my order details, says its still under fulfillment? Clicked the flip pac rain fly highlighted in the order details, and it again said I don't have permission to view the page???? Will call them later. Their communication is as bad as FP. In their email, they said to put the window stays in and attach the narrow end to the lid. Sure would have been simple to attach a small tag saying front or back? Now I'll have to unroll it and find the narrow end? I may try it this a.m. will let you know how it went. Thx

Thanks Billy, thats what I finally found out. I was curious as to the two windows I ordered. Weather they go on the front or back. Now I understand it doesn't matter. I'm going to give it a try today.

Not to hijack the OP's thread, but ... I asked this question a while back but don't recall an answer. Does anyone who removed the torsion bar and do a "pole flip" also have a rain fly, and is it possible to install in a similar manner as normal, and then flip the lid? Or does the pole and/or its attachments get in the way?
