New four wheel camper finch shell

I'm looking into getting a FInch shell model for my 2013 Tacoma Prerunner Access cab. I think the Silver Spur option would look good with my magnetic gray truck. Did you have to pay the full 900 bucks for the Silver Spur upgrade even on the shell model? Also, how does the camper effect the drive ability of your truck.

Thanks in advance, Ben

BTW, love ur rig

Hey Ben, Stan answered your question on the Sliver Spur. But just in case you missed his point you can get the full package, interior only or exterior only. I went the full package and lover it both inside and out.

As for the drivability. I had changed my suspension prior to getting the shell. On the rear I have OME springs with an extra leaf, Icon remote res shocks, and Timbren bump stops. On the front I have Icon coil overs with 700# springs, and total chaos upper control arms.
I have had the Finch off the truck once since I picked it up for about 5-7 days while working on the brackets. I can tell its there for every day driving but most of that it taking corners and speed bumps slower. I also am more aware of the height and the overhang in the rear (I plan on adding a back up cammera).
I have not noticed a big mpg difference. So in short I really don't know that it there.

PTO great info on the suspension. Without the Finch does the truck hop all over or is it still pretty steady?

I thought the Finch is for the shortbed trucks whereas the Eagle is for standard beds. I would love to see the Silver Spur on a mag grey taco. When the time comes I will probably go with white but the silver looks awesome inside and out.

Stan, has anyone requested a backup cam rigged into the camper from the factory? I would like to have the stock left in the tailgate for when the camper is off but then easily plug and play the one on the camper when it is in the truck.

Suprisingly the truck is pretty comfortable without a load on it. I have the front coil overs set a little lower so when the shell is on the back (574 lbs empty) it sits level. I have been in some stock 1/2 ton trucks that are a lot rougher unloaded then mine is. With the Icon's it seams to be smother at higher speeds on the bumps.

The finch is for the SB and would work in the standard bed as well, it just would not have any overhang. Even if you went with the white I would consider the silver spur interior. In my opinion it look more modern.

I am looking for a stock camera and wire loom (inside of the tailgate) for that same reason. When I take the camper off and put the tailgate on it would be plug and play both set ups.

Even though the Eagle is the size recommended for my Tacoma with the 6 ft bed, I think I"m gonna go with the in Finch shell model. The finch will fit in my bed with no overhang, and I should be able to keep my tailgate on if I choose. That way I can keep the use of my back up camera. I'm gonna order the Silver Spur Finch with the optional full sized window on the drivers side. I"m basically just wanting a comfortable, dry and secure place to sleep when I camp and a secure place to keep my gear when I travel. If the weather doesn't cooperate I figure I can always bring my portable propane camp stove inside to cook and my indoor approved propane heater for warmth. I'm sure I"ll do some customizing to suit my needs, but I'm just looking to keep it basic and simple......and light too.

I kinda like the old school interior vs the spurs. I know it looks great and modern but it has a cold feel to it. I don't want that when I'm camping. That is an interesting idea of having a finch shell on a standard bed and be able to use the tie downs. All the day dreaming I've done has been about a fully loaded Eagle.

Silver Spur "exterior only" = $ 500

: )

.

Hey Stan, I'm new to the forum but it appears you work for or you're in someway associated with Fourwheel campers. How long does it take to build a camper after it's ordered? I live is SO Calif so I would probably drive up to Woodland to pick it up. Right now I"m thinking a Finch shell model with the silver spur exterior and the full window on the drivers side. And if I mention you name how much of a discount will I get?

Thanks, Ben
