Here is a kind of a funny take on the frame bag being made up in Alaska. This maybe what an expo-bike packer wants to farkel a bug-out bike as they set up their perimeter security around camp. No relation or support from me on this product (I still use bags by relevate/bedrock) so not trying to spam. :bike_rider:

Uh...kudos for the innovative idea, but it's not exactly solving a problem I've ever encountered. Plus, it's always so much easier to maximize the storage space of a soft container.

Years ago a guy designed carbon fiber hard-sided panniers for traditional touring. That idea was so massively popular...I doubt he sold a single pair.

Very true on the soft bags. Last night I went to the mercantile and post office and fit a bottle of OJ, new little giant water pump for the cabin and my new point one pedals into my bedrock frame bag. I could not zip it shut but it all fit. I had Andrew flair out the bag big time for the Fatback.

I doubt it.

Most bear kegs are designed so that bears can not get leverage or a grip on the container as-well-as withstanding being crushed. I think if you had some stank in that box a bear would make easy work of our bike and you would be walking home. The only place I see that doing well is if you are bike touring and leaving your bike for periods of time as you explored on foot. The other prob is it is not that stealthy and may get extra attention at a bike rack that you do not want. (Not that fatbikes don't get enough attention as it is). I guess these are more if you want you bike to match your moto with touratech panniers.
These guys are going to be down at the Homer Fat Bike Fest and I'll try to get some pictures this weekend.

I wonder if it's similar to how some people prefer hard panniers on their motos while some people prefer soft bags. I have ammo cans on the KLR and like that stuff doesn't poke through or get crushed if the bike bumps hard objects or gets set on its side. Other prefer the give of soft bags that don't upset the balance as much when hitting something or risk damage to the frame or rack.

I still like my Relevate and Oveja Negra pieces a lot but I did squish a tube of sunblock all over inside the frame bag once and hard bags would have prevented that. Maybe it's about stuffing them big time, I dunno. I've never felt like I needed more inside the frame bag nor get the sense I'm gonna blow out a seam.

It's interesting - I love bikepacking bags of any kind and prefer hard cases on my moto. For wildly different reasons.
