pole elastic is no good, is this a good option?

I would check with Coleman first. FYI, I moved away from fiberglass poles a few years ago, got tired of them splintering in the wind.

Hmmm. something to think about I guess. We don't camp but once or twice every couple months...How many nights in a tent do you have in a year? (Not to restate, but ours is about 6-10 right now)

I've never had a pole snap, but I wouldn't care about materials either way if the price is similar. And if I was getting something more durable - Great!

I can't remember where I got it but I had a shock cord break and I picked up a roll of new stuff. Rethreaded and reused the original pole sections. Only cost a few bucks.

ahhh, see thats what I was thinking of doing, too. Thanks for posting that.

Maybe I'll see what our camping/sailing stores have around here have as far as replacement cords.

(Did you do your restringing in an approved area? I hope you didn't leave your cord scraps on the ground for some animal to eat...lol. kidding.)
