Bear in mind 4crawler no longer sells built sliders and only offers slider kits which are not assembled/welded. You receive the pre-cut raw materials and need to weld them together yourself. http://4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/RockSliderZ.shtml#Kits
That said, if you're local, Roger (4crawler) may be willing to make you a set of sliders (assuming he has the time) and weld it to your rig (for a fee).

I wish I lived locally to him, but I'm all the way on the east coast. I do have a local welder who can do stuff, so I can make it work with just the kit. thanks again guys!

Hi guys. Just found this forum by accident while I was searching for stuff to do to the Montero.
Background on the car:
It was owned by my in-laws (they bought it brand new and were the only owners). Then my wife started using it when she first got her license. Ever since then she drove it, but kept the miles down since she didn't drive too much (work, school, etc). Fast forward to a few weeks back and that's when I inherited it. The car has been well maintained by my wife while she owned it. I didn't know what I was getting other than just "another SUV." Then I stumbled upon this forum and my whole view on this car changed.
As far as my background I've been in the import game ever since my first car. I know about modding compacts and what I've owned and built are the following:
- Turbo b15 Spec V (totalled)
- Auto-X/Road coruse B13 SE-R (sold)
- Mildly upgraded p10 G20 (sold)
- Basic bolt-on Evo 8 (most recent car)
Well the Evo has been put on the back burner since it crapped out on my a few weeks back. I still haven't gotten around to fixing it yet and it's just sitting in my parent's backyard.
Anyways, here's the only pic I have of the Monty right now (with the evo of course).
This is all completely new to me. I've never done any off roading, but I really want to get into it. Looks really cool, but from what I've been researching there's really no legal trails in NJ. I'm not too far from the PA border so if anyone knows good spots, please let me know!
Also as far as modding goes I just did some "ricer" mods, lol.
- HIDs
- LED interior lights since most of them were all burnt out
- Installed a new headunit
As I said before I want to get in to some off roading so first and foremost I want to upgrade the tires. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as tire size and brand? I drive the car to work Mon-Fri and do about 40 miles round trip. I'd like a tire that'll handle daily driven duties and still have some capabilities for some weekend fun. I love the look of some nice meaty and wide all terrain tires (like 33" or 35"), but I know that won't be something I can do right now.
To wrap it all up, I've been lurking hardcore for the past 2 days and I really like the community. You guys have a lot of info and are really friendly!

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Bolt on sliders.. Might as well just but nerf bars or stock running boards, They not only come loose but usually damage your frame as well. Every time i've seen the bolt on sliders it was because someone brought it to me to fix. Good sliders but bad idea bolting them on.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to run a few trails to see how much I actually need them before actually dropping $$ on a nice set.
