I think I have been going about this in the wrong way....I got excited about modding the truck and lost sight of the camping trips and adventure....with that being said....
Long term, my wife and I will camp a lot and I dont know if i see us using the sleeping platform for anything other than the trip. By "us" I mean my wife wont use the platform for anything other than the trip and I dont want to leave a bad taste in her mouth by roughing it to much. Would a RTT be a better investment? I know I got to secure it somehow to the truck but I have seen All Pro makes a kit and I am sure others do as well. If I account for the cost of materials and the time spent building a platform, as well as buying a top I could about buy a RTT and "rack system."
What do you guys think about traveling across the country with an RTT making stops everyday? Will it be a headache to set up and take down?
What are my most affordable quality RTTs? I have seen several brands come up and I would like to keep it under $1000 if possible.
How much of a pain in the butt will it be to remove the RTT and store it in the garage when not in use? I know they weigh over 100lbs. Do people do this often or do they usually leave them on?
My truck has great tires, full skids, and soon to be sliders....I need to not focus on lifts and bumpers and spend my money on camping gear and get out there and go exploring :smiley_drive:
