funny you mentioned the budget build. I got rear ended and got a $800 check which i promptly used for the OME shocks and springs.

Then a little under $1000 worth of tires (5 of them) i had a pretty legit 4WD.

Compared to other vehicles, i think the trooper is pretty cheap to make a competent vehicle.

here is a question.....

how necessary is it to replace the stock torsion bars if you get the aftermarket ARB bumper and winch for a 98-02 Trooper?

i reccomend it

the torsion bars are just springs...so if you are adding additional weight...in this case a good amount ( 125 or so on the bumper and 100 on the winch) you can def. benefit from adding heavier rate springs.

you will most likely get some brake dive in the front w/ out them.

all in all, not that big of a deal....easy install and pretty reasonable $ for the upgrade.

thanks for the info about the torsion bars. I take it that you are Matt from Indy4x. Good to meet you. You'll be hearing from me shortly to get a set of the HD tie rods and sway bar disconnects in the near future.

Thanks for singlehandedly creating an aftermarket for our vehicles. I appreciate it.
