Howdy y'all!

Here's info about my rig and why......

A little about the truck: I bought a 1988 4Runner with 230,000 miles on the clock in January of 2004. I bought it as a "Project Truck" and boy has it been one. I limped it home with warped head and 40psi of compression on the #3 cyl. Today it is my daily driver and my weekend warrior.

A little about my decision: I choose a 1st gen 4Runner because of it's "usability". It comfortably sits 4 and I can haul my stuff around. I wanted a 5-speed because I've had 2 different auto transmissions die on me. I wanted 4-wheel drive to wheel trails, go camping, and feel safer in the snow. The general theme for my truck would be 'Exploration' - I'm not into mudding or strictly rock crawling... but I want to be able to get over almost everything I encounter and have a reliable vehicle to take into the wilderness!

Right now it stands with...
ENGINE:
Rebuilt original 22RE
TRD Stage 1 Cam
Bored .2" Over
Balanced
Decked

COOLING:
GDI 3-Core Radiator
180 degree tstat

PERFORMANCE:

DRIVETRAIN:

Custom lengethen rear driveshaft thanks to Drive Line Service in Concord, CA
$35 AutoZone Clutch

1" 4Crawler Body Lift
1.5" BJ Spacers, 2" Lift Blocks
6" Shackles from RuffStuff Specialties
33" BFG M/T's
Pro-Comp Shocks on all 4 corners
5 - 55 watt Rock Lights
2 - 55 watt Hella's on the roof rack
2 - 55 watt Hella's on the front bumper
BentUp Front Bumper with receiver hitch
BentUp Sliders
Smittybuilt Rear (Waiting for it to fall off, then it will get replaced with a BentUp w/TireCarrier me thinks)

ELECTRONICS:

Wilson Lil' Wil
Aux. Fuse Panels and Distribution Blocks
Kenwood HU with 4-6x9's
Viper Model 300 Alarm

hey

Welcome to the expo. Good looking older 4Runner. Looks as though you have done the work. I had a very similar 88 with the 3vze in it and a sas conversion. It was a great truck and seeing yours makes me miss it! Good to have you on board:rockon:

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm excited to read about your adventures and see how you build your rigs to get into the wilderness.

I love the high desert and the eastern sierra's.... I've been down to death valley 7 times over the past 4 years, spending 5-7 days on each trip. I end up in Bridgeport a couple times a year enjoying the hot springs and exploring the rustic beauty. I've wheeled Strawberry and some of Slickrock. Hopefully that gives you an idea of the abuse my truck see's and the beautiful country I enjoy.

Here is a picture timeline starting from the day I limped it home. Check it out!
