Hey guys, I was going to rattle can my jeep desert tan..cost around 100-200 pending how many cans, prep work, tape ect. Then I started looking at plasti-dipping my chrome. Then I came across a few guys, in high end cars that actually painted their whole cars in the stuff! It peels off with ease, and no ill effects have been listed yet!
I've heard you get oil stains easy, such as a greasy hand print or greasy finger prints ect. But I was thinking of spraying my jeep with this stuff. Worst comes to worst, I don't like it I can peel it right off. They have car-kits that use a cheap spray gun, or you can ratte can it.
They now have camo colors, but I think I'd go with their matte grey or matte white. Oh and cost is about the same as a rattle can job. Whats your guys take on this stuff?

https://www.dipyourcar.com/home.php Although I am sure you already seen this site.

Also plasti dips home page lists everything there as well. Was going to paint the bumpr palstic on my truck black with this but had some actual bumper paint so used that. If you want it to peel off easily. Well when you want to peel it off, spray it on thick from what I have read. Havent done anything other then tools and I have 2 spray cans now. Thinking of coating my wheels for when winter hits, plus to see how the jeep looks with black wheels before commiting to it. Havent heard anything bad about it but still on the fence. Sorry no actual experience but have been eyeing this stuff to. If only just to see how something looks with the ability to easily reverse it.

A few guys from the jeep club here in Houston did their wheels pink for a breast cancer beach run. I'll see if I can find some pics.

Ive done it to smaller trim pieces on cars never a whole car but i am confident that the stuff wouldnt mess anything up. I use it on my bumper in wintertime for protection against sand and salt.

Why I am thinking of wheels during winter.

I dont see it holding up on a the entire car for too long. I did do the case on my phone. Looked awesome, just the abrasion of being in my pocket cause it too peel.

I actually used the stuff on my wheels probably 4-5 months ago. I was amazed at how well it's been holding up and how easily it was applied. But for a whole car with way more surface area, i'm not sure how well it would hold up. You could always paint something such as the hood to sort of test out how well it will hold up.

I did the dash in my samurai and it turned out good. If I wanted to matt black a street car I'd give the car kit a shot for sure, but I don't think it would hold up to much brush/offroad action.

I've used Plasti-Dip for other things for years, but never on a car. We did a friends Tacoma hood in flat black the other day, it turned out really good, it looks like a black vinyl decal after it set up. It's all in the prep work and the spray pattern. I've been planning to buy some cans of the Tan Camo to 'repaint' my Suburban and add some black accents as well, but I've been too busy with a house renovation to tinker with my cars. I brushed Plasti-Dip on some drawers of one of my toolboxes several years ago, and it has held up extremely well. These drawers are full of misc nuts, bolts, screws, gauge parts, switches, etc. I probably dig through them every few days, just pushing the things around on the Plasti-Dip. It keeps it quiet and doesn't allow the stuff in the drawers to scratch up the paint in the drawers. It peeled up in one corner last year, where some sort of solvent got up under it, but I just cut that corner out with a razor blade and it hasn't peeled up since.
