There isn't even any snow there.

Not like what you would find in the US/Canada/Europe, but I earnt my living as a Ski and Snowboard Instructor for 12 years here, as well as in the US and Canada.

I actually knew about the mountain range between Melbourne and Sydney (visited in the mid 80s), but hardly anyone lives there. Even on the southern edge of the country in Melbourne snow is extremely rare.

I didn't see many 4x4s trucks when I was there. There was a ubiquitous Ford sedan and not much else. People even looked at me like I was nuts when I asked about good places to camp in the boonies. I suppose it's changed a lot. I might need to go back...
