i might as well stop lurking and show my self. recently i stumbled across this site while researching on a 1st gen 4runner. which i then started to fall in love with and bought. its a nice little 86' and with a little work i think it would make a great rig to get out of the city. so a little background info on myself. Im Ian, im 17, i was born and raised in North Texas, recently moved to Atlanta Georgia to finish school. over the past year and a half i've owned nothing but jeep cherokees, which chronological order have been totaled in an accident, too much to drive around in the city, or like my latest one was just too nice to tear into. which leads to my latest project, that 86' 4runner. which hopefully lasts longer then the jeeps.

and heres my 4runner

its not the prettiest, nor the fastest, but when you lock the hubs and put it in 4lo its a blast.
so after i get it running nice, get rid of the rust, and actually have a nice base to start from i plan on making this into a weekend warrior so that i can get out in to the middle of no where again.

Welcome to the ATL ! There are some great places to explore and some great hiking. The east section here is pretty active with weekend get a ways and some eat and greets. If I cant do the elk run this coming weekend , then I will be making a day trip run up to the N Ga mountains on SAT. I also really like the older 4 runner !

Looks good. There's plenty of easy and low cost mods you can do when you are ready. I am sure your bookmarks are full of good articles, but it sounds like you know what needs to be done 1st.

Nice find.

Nice truck mate. Werlcome to the "1st Gen 4Runner Expo group" ;) the few, the proud, the underpowered... Ah but then they are extremely tough and incredible off-road... Love the truck and I can't wait to see it all built up.

What are your plans???

Cheers
