I've used a few different sets, but my top choice for 30-50 % off- road is BFG ko AT's. You should up it one size to 265/75/16. For 10-20% offroad, I liked Bridgestone revos.

Congratulations and welcome to ExPo!. Make sure the problem is with the stereo system and not your iPod. Apple switched port setup/arrangement on the current generation iPods starting with the iPhone 3G and skinny Nano, so manufacturers like Eclipse can either make a product that is compatible with old iPods or new iPods, but not both. I love Apple, but stuff like this is beyond reproach as there is no reason for the change beyond forcing people to buy new accessories. Something like this may help, but I think you have to point the finger (give the finger?) to Apple on this one.

That's not a factor with these units; they don't plug into the iPod docking connectors, they just run a 1/8" stereo cable from the headphone out to the AUX in.

Here's the sorry update...

The dealer negotiated a price for a specific vehicle (VIN with options) that it didn't have, and worse, apparently cannot obtain. I'm in limbo. I obviously refused to pay until after I had seen and driven the truck, but I'm on day three with a signed contract that the dealership cannot perform. If they don't conjure up that truck today, I will tell them the deal is off, tear up the contract, and I will contact Toyota to complain. I seriously doubt Toyota encourages its dealerships to enter into contracts without first securing the vehicle being contracted for. That's just bad business.

The salesman was great. Unfortunately his fleet manager, the invisible man/woman behind the curtain who located the vehicle and initiated negotiations with me prior to verifying that a dealer trade was possible, is an idiot and will have cost the dealership a deal. In fact, I think the letter to Toyota will be cc'ed to the dealership's owner. I don't want the sales guy to take heat for a dealership management gross error.

So I'm likely back to square one. I see that a dealership about 400 miles away in southern California has two Trail Editions in inventory, but no color data is provided. A local dealer has one SR5 V6 4WD in Galactic Grey in stock, but has added cheesy pinstripes and paint protectant. I hate cheap protectants like Permaplate and always hand detail my vehicles every quarter (as it gives me a chance to closely inspect not just the body but also the underbody, exposed drivetrain components, etc.). After I verify that the contract has been rescinded and destroyed I'll start calling dealerships. Some car dealerships are their own worst enemies.

Regards,

Jim

That's too bad.

Regarding the sales department, I had much better luck talking to the "internet sales team" than the main "lot sales". They seemed more knowledgable and could negotiate a better deal.

Also, if you still feel comfortable dealing with that dealership (and salesman), I'm pretty sure you can have the ones out in So Cal delivered to that dealership. I'm hoping they'd at least waive the cost of delivery for your troubles.

Okay, we're back on again. The dealership had to trade an '09 Urban Runner 4WD for the Trail Edition. The other dealership was insisting on a straight across trade (not fair as the UR4WD is a more expensive vehicle than the TE). At any rate, I have her and she's beautiful. A couple of interesting items worth noting. Though the Toyota press kit specfies fog lamp delete for the TE, and the press photos show the TE with no fogs, the TE tested by Car & Driver had fogs, I saw pictures of a TE at a Reno-area dealership that had factory fogs, and my TE has factory fogs. That's nice as I was going to add them anyway. Mine also has (and I paid for) the cheesy "front skid plate" that is really an underlip brush guard of soft, thin aluminum. They wouldn't take it off and give me a credit for it. Oh well.

I'll get some pics up later.

Thanks for all of the feedback.
