Looking good Obetski :)

What are the next things you're planning for your car?

Thank you.

I'm thinking winch. What's a decent brand? Anyone know someone who can install it. I saw one of the post he installed it inside the gill where the front plate are. Thank you.

I don't have a winch myself (yet) so I can't help with that question.

As for a mechanic able to install it in SoCal, mine is located in Huntington Beach and has plenty of experience with Monteros by now, PM me if you want to know his details.

I picked one off ebay.(actually it's a gift from my wife :wings: ) $249 with free shipping 12000lbs. looks like all the other generic winches. (just like the ones from harbor freight tools).
My local metal fabricator will take care of the frame mount. I'll be installing the winch behind the stock bumper as well.
I'll be taking pictures of the build. I'm hoping to get this done over the Memorial Day weekend.

There's nothing particularly unique about the Montero that would require a Mitsubishi mechanical. Heck, its a Chrysler engine I think. On occasion, I have taken mine to Crady Automotive in Yorba Linda, but they are just a general auto mechanic shop, not specialists. I turn to this forum for anything really unique :)

It is not a Chrysler engine.

It wasn't a Chrysler part, it was a Mitsubishi engine design. Chrysler did manufacture and use it, though. All engines in Monteros are Mitsubishi designed and manufactured, at least in the USA.

Okay, well Chrysler branded water pumps and other bits were able to be locally sourced for a fraction of the cost of a corresponding Mitsubishi part, and were a perfect match back when I had a 91 Monty.
