Hey everyone, allow me to introduce my self. My name is Miloe, 35 yrs old. father of two toddlers ages 6 and 5. And a proud new (new to me) 95 Montero sr. I was originally looking to buy a Trooper due to the space it provides for my two toddlers, I originally own a BMW 5 series, which provides very little room in the trunk to haul ONE toddler bike let alone two. I was on a buget to buy a bigger car, I thought a Trooper was the best choice for me, but one day looking through CL. I came across this beauty of a Montero sr, I wasted no time and jumped right on it and eventually bought it for a great price. I love all the space it provides, third row with folding seats, second row with plenty of leg room for the kids, (which in my BMW is pretty cramped) and after doing A LOT of research on the Montero I just fell in love even more. I live in Las Vegas valley which is surrounded with mountains and just can't wait to take it out in the trails. My thought was to buy a bigger car to take the kids around, but I think we'll be using The Montero more than the BMW.. Hehehe

Thanks jlocster, your thread on your 2000 Montero is pretty good. I got a quick question, I saw on your thread that you painted your rooftop white to maintain the tempeture low inside your Montero, How well does it work? I live in Las Vegas, and the heat here is no joke!! So anything to help reduce tempeture is a great help. Thanks!

Does it actually keep the car cooler? Probably a little. How much is hard to say because most heat is transmitted into the cabin through the window glass on hot days. As far as surface temps, I do know that when the green paint on my car gets so hot in the So Cal sun that it can't be touched, the white rooftop gets only lukewarm. So I imagine the roof coating helps keep interior temps down somewhat.

As an additional bonus, if your clearcoat is ruined on the roof, as mine was, it's a very cost effective alternative to a repaint. The coating has held up very well for about a year and a half and so far shows no signs of deterioration.

I was in the same boat, we were looking at Troopers for awhile when we discovered the Montero, it's just a far better vehicle in every way.

Yeah, the clear coat on the roof of the Montero is bad, so more than likely I'll do what you did to yours, I'm also thinking about installing a snorkel, makes the Montero look really good. I'll be taking instructions from your thread for that. Thanks.
