New Nexus 7 inch tablet (July 2013)

I picked up a 2013 Nexus 7 with some points I accumulated from our move from AK with the hopes of using it for backcountry navigation, etc. Unfortunately, mine has the well documented issue with the GPS. I knew this when I got it but had read in numerous forums and articles that it was a software issue and that a new build that corrected it (and a touchscreen issue too) had been released. Well, it appears that unless you are willing to hack your device (or at least have way more tech skills than the average bear), the update is still not available. So, I'm patiently waiting for the update (which their support said has not been officially released) before I can give a review of it.

I have downloaded BCN as well as an add-on for the state of NM and worked out my mounting system so I'm hoping they release the update soon!

UPDATE:

After doing the update, it appears to have corrected the GPS issue. The only issue I have is some screen flickering when in BCN but the GPS signal , while it takes a while to connect sometimes, does lock on and stay. Overall, I like the tablet and hope it performs as well in the field as it appears it will.

I love mine. I have had both. Now my son has the 2012 model. Waiting for some more rugged cases to come out. I need to load it up with maps and other outdoor apps.
