Yeah things are running very smooth and I am pleased

For $25-$30 it is well worth to swap plugs every 20,000 miles

I really want to start looking for a small travel trailer, like a 16 footer to hold 4 people

My brother lives in Colorado, and I plan on yearly road trips out there.

I hope to get some mods done over the winter and spring

Make sure to have the UV protective additive added to the bed liner or it will get chaulky pretty quickly. I went with Rhino Liner because I *heard* Line-X gets more chaulky more quickly (?).
.
With the '12 (6 bar grill), Rigid makes a single row LED light bar, and it looks nice behind the '12 grill. Mine's a '13 so I went this way:

Was just in Colorado (and Utah, Texas, NM, WY). Did 5 of the high passes. Here's our truck with sleeping quarters on top (sleeps 4):

I would ultimately/eventually like to run a tad larger tire.........but I am highly concerned with mileage

With my current setup (275/65R20 Goodyear Duratracs) , I think my mileage is still horrible for this size of a vehicle

My old tank diesel got 16.7 everywhere

275/65/20 = 34.1x10.8/20

Maybe step up to a 285, or just ditch the 20" setup and get back into a 17" or 18" setup

The stock 20" wheels are 8.5" wide, 6x135 bolt pattern, +44 offset, I think backspace is 6.5" not 100% sure

Maybe some better shocks and tires with more side might provide a better ride......... know I would like the wheels to be 1/2" wider and have less backspacing. I think they truck would be more stable with a much better stance

I had Rhino Liner on two other trucks, never again. It was too soft and ripped and "chunked" too easy

I also had LineX on two other trucks, and loved it. Never had it get ripped or torn off, and never had the color get "chaulky"........no UV additive either

In the Spring, I will be going with LineX for sure............taking the cap off I my garage will give me time to install a roof rack. Still dumb founded they sell caps with no track system or rails

Buddha.

Finally in expo white.
Regarding cold air intakes and your concern for you mpg's:
A cold air intake might actually lower your mpg's which was the case for me. I constructed an intake to draw fresh air from behind the grill rather than from the engine compartment in my old 4cyl S10, millage dropped from 29 to 25. This was before I learned that doing the opposite, constructing a warm air intake is the way for mpg's. The ecomodders have been doing this for years.

Your truck already has a cold air intake so I don't think you'd see a differance with mpg's or power but it's food for thought.

Love the truck btw, I wouldn't change a thing.

To give you an idea. Here is my rig with 33" tires with just a Leveling kit up front and larger block in the rear

I have a leveling kit and 3" tall rear blocks already

I want a wide tire and wheels with a different backspacing, but that won't happen for years

Ditching the 20"s in favor of a 17" will most certainly improve your ride. Why 20"s on a truck for "off road" is beyond me. They should give everybody who buys a truck with 20+" rims a kidney belt! :sombrero: The taller sidewall makes any truck ride nicer, especially off road. My tires are 34" (LT285/75R17), and being 10 ply they'll take a lot of abuse. And don't forget that when you increase air volume in a tire your load rating goes up. Even if you don't haul anything heavy, they'll carry the weight of your truck better and tend to last longer. I went with Raptor take-offs. Found them for $250 for the set. >hint hint< They are 17 x 8.5 with a 34mm offset, increasing the stance a tad.

Now you got me wondering if I have it backwards. I'll have to check with my supplier to find out which he used. All I know is that it is one there like another layer of steel, and I'm not what you would call "kind" to it either. On topic, if you EVER plan on doing any water crossings if off road, you might want to seal the seams in your bed before you have it sprayed (DAMHIK!).

Nice truck. I once had a Mazda Protege that was about that same color blue. "Laser Blue" is what Mazda called it. Sharp color.

I like that the Duratracs are Load E range and really don't mind the 20" setup, but think that actually the stock suspension if pretty soft, actually too soft

I also think the stock front and rear shocks are either shot, or just over worked with the heavy 34" tires

Stock tire size was 275/55R20, which is roughly a 31.9x10.8R20 tire

My current tire size 275/65/20 is roughly a 34.1x10.8R20 tire

I am confident I can run a 35x12.50, but will want different wheels

Again, this wont happen until I can wear out the Duratracs, which wont be for a long time

The thing about the Duratracs is that when they wear down to about halfway, those sipes in the middle of the tread block go away.

With the "LOCK" pull switch for the rear locker and the 4WD system engagement...........does the locker work in 2WD?

Seems like it would/should.

There has been some discussion about this, and the conclusion is that 2011 and older f150s did not. 2012, some of them did, 2013 all of them did. If you have the ELD (electronic locking differential), then you just pull the button to find out. First clue is if the dash light comes on. Second clue is if you make a slow speed turn and one wheel chatters and squeals, then yes, yours works in 2wd. My 13 works in 2wd, and I'm not sure I understand why Ford would put an ELD in there only to be used in 4wd...

LMK your findings!
