I finally got her back from the seamstress! Blue pig an me had to go try it out this weekend. Fire and shelter set up in under 10 min. A good time even with a night time high of -5 and very quiet in the wind.

Its 9x9 square, 10 oz traditional canvas the actual set up possibilties are almost endless, from a wedge tent, a diamond, traditional leantoo and even a half round. An awning from the roof rack......

Had skiff of snow over night, nothin spectacular. We dinned well on RMMM
some parched oats and jerked deer.

That's great - I assume there's no condensation to rain on you when it thaws either? What do you use for a sleeping bag and pad?

Naw I usually find that mimimalist campers are "suffering" from lack of something hahaha. Blue Pig and me could'nt ask for much more (well maybe one more Whitney 3 point wool blanket when it gets into the double digit negatives....:ylsmoke: )

Changes I noticed from the army poncho prototype is Im going to sew a few loops along the top diagonally for heavy snow load so I can add an external "ridge pole" if needed or be able to suspend the center from a tree overhead ect. I will swap the 550 cord for traditional waxed hemp rope. Everything else seems perfect. No condinsation and Blue pig can come and go as he pleases durring the night.

The weight is similar to a standard 2 person back packers tent, and rolls up about the same-6 in dia/18 in long. Poles stakes ect all found in the hills...

For padding I cut pine boughs for the ground, A saddle blacket for blue pig and two Whitney 3 point wool blankets, space and weight is similar to a comparable sleeping bag, but a lot more durable. If its really wet a piece of oil cloth will go down first.
