New tires for the SD - Toyo M55s

I had decided to get Bridgestone Revo IIs, but found that they are in short supply for immediate delivery. My alternative was the Toyo Open Country AT, but they are not available in load range E. So when I was up in Baker, OR yesterday, I bought a set (5) of Toyo M55s with the strong recommendation of the local Schwab guy. These are LT 285/75/R16 E For a fairly aggressive tire they are quiet, ride more softly than I expected, and, with just over 1000 miles on them, I am happy with them. :smiley_drive:

I think they will work well on my F350 crew cab.

A lot of the mining trucks in the Northern Nevada run those, they seem to hold up very well.

Keep us informed.

What is the load weight rating of the 285/75R16E's?

Load rating is 3740 lbs. Tire is 33.4" high. Inflation up to 80 lbs. I am running at 55 lbs empty. Will inflate to 65 lbs when towing the trailer.

I just ran a set 10,000 miles on a trip through Canada and Alaska. The rears are showing some wear, but my truck is heavy with a 10' Alaskan on it. I ran the rears at 80 pounds and the fronts at 75. I think I could have run them lower OK but was trying to get mileage out of them. I would check them out as low 40 pounds without a load. Those sidewalls are really stiff. A friend that runs them and pulls a lot of trailers had warned me to rotate every 5000 miles.

edit they were 255/85 16's

Toyo M-55's

I loved my 285-75-16 M-55's on my old '98.5 Dodge CTD. I just wish Toyo'd put out a 285-70-17 for my '07 Dodge. On a Dodge CTD forum we've almost amassed 100 signatures to approach Toyo on the subject. Toyo makes a well built precision tire which needs minimal lead to balance. I e-mailed Toyo today about a 285-70-17, 285-75-17 size. The response was that they'll forward the request to the engineering dept.

I've been running Toyo M55s on my 1 ton DRW since 1987 and have never regretted it. They have been great tires and I will continue to use them. There is a reason Toyo has been making that tire for so many years.
