Blazing Trails
Hi everyone,

I've creeped around enough, and figured it's time to post what I've got going on to help others out and maybe get a couple tips from you pros in the process!

Started out with a bone stock 1998 Mitsubishi Delica PF6W (Long Wheel Base / High Roof V6 Gasser) straight outta Japan. Bought it on an online auction for just under C$1000! After it Landed in Vancouver, BC it was closer to C$4500 but hey that's still a steal!

To make it compliant I had to replace 75% of the undercarriage .. Ball joints, Control arm and sway bar bushings/linkages etc. Then the DRLs and new rubber. I went with 30" General Tire AT2s. 30" fit just with enough space without any rub! The local shops specializing in Delicas quoted $3000 to do all the work on the undercarriage so I took it into my own hands and paid the $1200 in parts, dropped around $800 in tools and then maybe 25 hours later it was time to see if my handy work would pass the test. All was good except the brakes  ! So they threw on new front rotors and disks and handed the keys back after making me cough up another $1000. Take it from me, the $3000 they offer is a fair price.. But I don't regret my choice as I now know my van top to bottom! :ylsmoke:

Here's a pic of one of the first trips up the mountain.

Anyhow, from here we've got a grocery list of things to do before departing in January 2016 for the grand Pan American Hwy. To sum up the list in short, HD rear coils, millwork/sink/rnrbed, solar/dual batteries, snorkel and fully loaded roof rack set up. Pics to come soon!

Hope you enjoy!

Cheers,
D

Here's a pic of the new timing belt (With the tensioner in backwards :( ). While I was in there I also replaced the water pump, plugs, leads and air filter. About 15 hours in all but afterwards the engine sure does look purdy!

...could've saved 3-4 hours if I would've put the timing belt tensioner in correctly!

Since taking care of this my fuel consumption dropped from 14.6L/per 100KM to 12.5L/per 100KM!

Here is another pic of some of the other goodies we fitted into the van. I'll try to get some pics uploaded shortly with them all bolted on.
