So my girlfriend and I just finished the trans america trail this summer in our little Samurai, and we essentially finished the thing off in doing so. We loved the guy buy figured it was best to sell the little guy. We apparently were not through with sub-compact adventure travel though and came across this barn find- dodge raider. These guys are a different world to me and I was looking into where to start in terms of prepping him for expedition or adventure travel. I was running all over the mountains in the diamond peak wilderness and middle fork national forest this weekend and having a blast through snow and rain. Any tips and tricks for this little dude?

4x4wire is probably going to have a lot more info on these. I had a couple of them and my favorite was my 89' V6 5 speed, although it wasn't much more powerful than the 4cylinder. I can't really tell from the pics, but it looks like you have the 4 cylinder carb'd version. I would suggest taking care of all the basic maintenance first, especially any kind of seal, on EVERYTHING. I would also ditch the factory carb and go with an aftermarket one, it will really wake it up, but you might see a slight drop in MPG.
Good luck, I really miss my Raider! It will provide years of fun if you take care of it.

I have numerous pics of my red Raider, Roxy, with different rim/tire combinations if you're looking for those mods.
