It is.

This is a serious truck. I've owned 5 Monteros (2 gen 1 LWB and another Gen 2.5). They are great vehicles, particularly for the money.

I've been a little less bullish on the BMWs as of late (we still have 8 of them), but I've always been pretty big on 4x4s. We recently imported a 110 (which is going to be a dormobile/TAT vehicle) and picked up this little guy.

Send me a PM if you have any questions.

So if you need to recoup on these new purchases Ill pass on everything for the e34!! Im building a LS e23 this winter and I have a 84 745 from Charbel I need to do something with but I'm needing nature therapy.

I know the first thing I noticed upon a quick check of Clist on these Monteros and Raiders is dirt cheap. Like blown up cars cost more. 1500 for running driving cars. Am I missing something? Let me clarify that I mean up till 99 ones. Your basic 97 LS is 2k and a sport 1700, these raiders like yours are 3k fixed up. The basic ones I'm referencing. V6 5spd. So if I need parts just buy another one for 1500. Thats like a routine service on a TLC.

This car you are building is based on my research what the TLC in the pictures copies when being built. I can't substantiate that but I did see in a few places that the "wanker" set the bar and then was copied by Rover and TLC. Ill for sure have questions. Hope all is well.

There are a ton of diesel Pajero in Vancouver. For like 5k-8k. Am I missing something? Is that bang for buck matched?

Gen 2 Monteros, and even the Gen 2.5 are very affordable. Some of the SR trim have rear electric lockers as do the winter package 98-99. Depending on mileage and location, you can get one for $1,000-$3,500.

The diesel Pajeros in VCR are JDM imports and can only be brought stateside if they are 25+ Y/O. They are very desirable.

My little 88 started life as a 4cyl petrol Dodge Raider. It now has a 4D55 engine with a auto trans from a V6, a Montero Sport rear locking axle and springs (will be swapped soon) and front axles and LSD from a V6 (and a Starion?).

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
I don't mean to troll your thread Dolomiti so sorry in advance for the hijack.

DetroitDiesel, The above Pajero was an old Az Montero Club project. I sold it to Dolomiti and fixed up a few things before he took delivery of the old machine. It was more a labor of love than anything, I can't build another one like it for what he paid. I can however help you source a solid Montero and pretty much anything you'd want to outfit it with, or just build one for you if you don't want to DIY. You do get a lot of bang for your buck with a Montero, equally as strong of a drivetrain as a TLC but with far less expensive parts. You can typically buy a Montero, fix it up and buy "all our favorite parts" for less than you can buy a serviceable cruiser for. In the end you get an equally capable reliable rig that's far more comfortable in my opinion (all of my Montero's have factory suspension seats).

If you want any info or tech on Monteros or leads on trucks shoot me a PM and i'll give you my number.

Couldn't agree with this more.

Also, I don't think that most people know what the sell price of this particular vehicle was. It's value, I'd estimate, is far above those $3k Raiders that are for sale. $6-10k is not a bad price for any stateside diesel Montero, of any vintage.

every interaction with land cruiser and land rover fanboys have been a negative experience.

God yes! All vehicles are awesome, yet some people are just stupidly ignorant and blinkered. There isn't a "best",nothing wrong with some friendly banter,I rip on my buddys land rovers because they're constantly breaking, and they rip on my paj for 3 wheelin' around everywhere, but it's fun,we're not being dicks about it!

I've got to admire your style though, sweet beemers,a pair of nice mitsubishis, and a 110 so you've something to fix on the weekends :wings:

Thank you Ninja. I will be in contact that way this stays on this truck.

Dolomiti, This truck is great let me emphasize I was trying to say that the ones I found were just stock but clean and "restored" or well kept and 3500. The basic Dodge Raider. What you have is an animal that few have seen. I love it. I for sure want a 4 door one. So what is your plan with this just pure fun and whatever comes up. Are you like planning to build it out full expo or more like your sons first "truck"? I look forward to checking it out as you go. I see you want to get it to "like new" first be interested to see where you go from here. I certainly have a newfound appreciation for a rig that Ive honestly not sure I've ever seen one on the road.

The 88 will likely just be a fun off-road toy. I'm in the process of fixing the a/c and rear suspension. I will look at an ARB bullbar and winch and use it for small trips with my son and daughter (when she's a little older). When we move to the PNW in the future, it'll be used for more substantial trips.

The 99 is getting the like-new treatment. I've got suspension and tons of parts to address all of the needed maintenance. Sliders are going on tomorrow and an ARB (tribute ) bull bar will be here soon. I'll put on a roof rack and RTT and it will be a long distance expedition platform.

110 is getting a major overhaul and a dormobile roof. It will be a Trans America Trail vehicle, perhaps in 2016.

You should look at Gen 1 LWB. Here are two of my old ones. They are fantastic.

I have to admit that I'm a fanatic for the Gen I SWB body style. I just can't help myself. And when I look at these two rigs, it makes my little black rotten heart smile. You obviously have had some awesome trucks but I particularly like these two photos. Awesome.

1997 Mitsubishi Montero 3.5L

Thanks! You'll be disappointed to know that the blue 1990 is actually a LWB...
