Well, here I go again, hopefully this build wont be nearly as slow as my last one, but almost have the materials together to build myself my idea of an overland teardrop. Hope you like...
Ok, so I put a new axle with electric brakes in the older trailer...after being pushed down a steep incline on a weekend outing, even the upgraded wj brakes on my xj were smoking pretty good! I really didn't want a cambered axle, but itll be fine. I'm going to use the old axle to mock up the new trailer, as it will be 5x8, vs, the 4x6 body on the old trailer...we shall see how it progresses as we go
If all goes as i have it planned, should be 46 from floor to ceiling...project got stalled temporarily, but now have the frame nearly completed. I'll post a few pics of it from my laptop tonight, as i don't have any on my work computer
Trying to figure out what to use to seal the bottom of my teardrop with. I had toyed with the idea of when the body is fully enclosed using fiberglass and resin to seal the whole thing...any ideas would greatly appriciated
A lot of them are sealed up with that rubberized undercoat / roofing stuff. My friend seals all of his up with the rubberized paint on undercoat, and first makes sure to seal all the seams where the steel is near the plywood base with Sika caulking (paintable). The overcoats it with a couple of coats... and it is pretty impervious to water. Make sure you seal up all the seams however or water could get in there and sit there.
