new waterproof shockproof Nikon AW100

I don't see any obvious benefits to the Nikon compared with the various other shock/waterproof cameras already on the market. What somebody needs to come out with is a shock/waterproof camera with a substantially larger/better sensor. The tiny sensors in these cameras mean that their image quality will always be somewhat sub-par.

hope the camera takes decent pictures... I have the olympus 1030SW its an older model but the photo quality is lacking.. But it has also been all over the world and through hell and back and it keeps on ticken just doesn't have near the photo quality I have become used to with the DSLR.. Not even close.. and has no manual features which I have become used to using.

I have my nikonos setup still sell you cheap :) not sure it works though :) it did when I put it away 15mm lens and finder etc..

I taught scuba for 15 years and taught underwater photography also etc..

great camera though but can say dont miss the film days at all :)

since I do commercial photography I still use my underwater strobes on slave mode or did in the past when I shot nice homes with pools or big fountains etc.. :)

Yeah I have my issues with film as well lol, I have been debating a (cringe) water proof P&S for a while. Hate the idea of a P&S but at the same time, the DSLR housings are wayyyy out of my acceptable price range.

I owned an Olympus 1030SW. It had truly awful image quality. It was substantially worse than my older Olympus 720. With the 1030, Olympus increased the pixel count beyond what the sensor could handle. I got rid of the Olympus 1030, and got an Panasonic TS2. Decent image quality for a waterproof camera. What the market really needs is a waterproof version of the Canon S95 or Lumix LX5.
