Hello everybody. My name is Cody. I'm from Chicago and I'm 26. I am a welder by trade and my full time job is a Chicago fire fighter. I belong to a couple other jeep forums on the web, and I came across Expedition Portal through a Google search. The other forums are a wealth of information but I was looking for something other than the usual trail builds and ********-chat. So far from what I have read this site is exactly what I am looking for.
My jeeps of choice are a 1987 MJ ( soon to be daily driver) and an 2001 XJ. My plan is to turn my XJ into my expedition vehicle. While i have been to quite a few states and places, I feel there is much to be seen in this country. I hope to by this time next year to take the XJ on a 2 month loop around the U.S..
So far I have done the following things to the XJ.
-RE 4.5" lift with full rear lift spring packs and 4 degree shims (soon to be 6*).
-RE . 75" coil spring spacers up front (soon to be 1.75").
- A/A SYE kit and new drive shaft.
-Cragar soft 8 steel rims, 15 x 8 with 4" backspacing (x5).
-BFG km2's 32x 11.50 (x5).
-JCR offroad front stage 4 steel bumper.
-Hella 500 offroad lights (x2).
-RE Gen 2 front sway bar disconnects.
-B&M auto transmission cooler, w/ driver side A-pillar gauge pod and mount.
And things in the works right now are, building a roof rack, skid plates, rear bumper, and rocker panel guards, repairing my Warn xd 9000i winch, and ordering my cut-out bushwhacker flares.
So I think I have a pretty good start on a jeep that will take me on this journey. I would love some input from you guys and tips/ ideas. Anything anybody would recommend would be great. I'll be waiting to hear what you guys have to add. Thanks. - Cody:safari-rig:
