Nice find! Those early Toyota reds usually come alive nicely with some wax and a little buffing. But they need wax pretty frequently if they're parked outside.
I would really keep those wheels if it were me. They clean up and repaint easily if you want to freshen them up. I think these trucks lose a lot of authenticity on aftermarket or non-period-correct wheels. You can put a wide range of tire sizes on those 15x6s, they're tough and you can't beat the look if you ask me. I also like the other factory steel wheels that were available at that time. They show up on Craigslist now n' then.
but I like the white disk-type you have even better...
...Oooh--they give me shivers--haha
We early 4runner folks are spoiled when it comes to replacing fuel pumps. Have you found the secret access hatch under the rear seat bottom?
My action plan for a nice, 1-owner stocker like that would be to keep its originality and focus on functional maintenance items instead of modifications and "improvements." That's the approach I wish I'd taken with my '85 when I was younger. Now I just want to return it to how it was but some things just won't undo, and you can't get that money back afterwards. Sorry, I'm a bit sentimental.
Welcome and have fun!
