Newest Mid-Sized Trucks Sales Figures May Surprise You?

I tought Ford was testing a Ranger with the 2.7 TT?

They probably are no doubt. The articles mentioned talk about the next gen ranger, which for us is only a couple years away. I’d assume that the next gen will have been designed with North America taken into account as well as the ROW market, our T6 based ranger wasn’t supposed to come here.

I’m going to stand by saying the 2.7 v6 won’t fit, or will be incredibly tight in the current ranger we have. Even if ford can shoehorn one in, there is more to bringing it to market than physically fitting one to what we have.

I’d like to be proven wrong on this though, I think it would be a fun truck.

While I agree that the 2.7 would be a riot in a Ranger.... It would be easier and cheaper to get the same hp/tq out of the four banger. Even with no changes to the motor internals it can take far more power than Ford lets it make (think hundreds). The down side is the more HP per cubic inch they make, the harder it is to pass the emissions requirements.

Also, the 2.7 will fit, they might have to rotate the turbos, but that's it. It's a pretty compact motor. It would be no more cramped than the obnoxiously wide 5.0 in the Mustang.

The New Ford Ranger Was Outsold By The Notably Ancient Nissan Frontier!

That news gives those of us who have had to hide our love for the Frontier as a dirty little secret, some real validation! ?

For a lot of the time this year the only Rangers to trickle out where custom orders and high trim trucks.

I have heard the only inline rumor for the current Ranger and it does kinda make sense. I bet the next gen will be designed to swallow V6 powerplants... but for now I don't think anyone really has an answer for the four banger's power/torque to really warrant the 2.7.

Bronco is rumored to be on the next gen Ranger platform.

I was never a fan of mid size trucks..I decided I needed one and went shopping..Tacos are OK..but overpriced to an extreme..Calling a Ranger or Colorado anything more than than a midsized car with a big trunk is pretty much sums them up. I ended up buying a Nismo 4x4 Frontier. It's a small truck and it works...Plus it costs about $12,000 less than a TDR Taco..

Happy hunting..

They already have that drivetrain combo w/ that power rating in the Q60 and I severely hope that Nissan intends to put the VR30DDTT in the Frontier. Probably not nearly as affordable but would be a whole lot of fun.

I spoke with a Nissan rep the other day that said the Frontier will get a new 3.0 - 300hp motor w/ 7speed in the current body with a full redesign coming in late 2021.

I'll believe it when I see it.
You do know Nissan is in a world of hurt so deep they are begging Renault to buy them right? All the Infinity and Nissan dealers near me went tits up last yr. Its so bad at Nissan they missed the biggest pay day ever in CA by not getting the new Leaf out in time for the CA HOV lane expiration that occurred January 1st 2019. They left millions of dollars untapped with that epic fail.

Nissan sadly is dead. Seriously finito..

Yeah, I've read the news.

I'll freely admit that I am an optimist and love the Frontier but also won't be heartbroken if Nissan goes under. I said I'll believe it when I see it because of their current problems in leadership, profits and aged line up.

Mostly I just hope they can shove the VR30DDTT in a few models before they follow your prediction. Alternatively, they recover, learn from their mistakes and get back to being the company that brought us the 240z/300zx, hardbody, and Xterra.

Yeah, from what I see driving on the roads in the SW and including SoCal in that, Nissan is basically down to two vehicles, the Rogue and the Frontier. In the US, they seem to be headed towards following the “Mitsubishi” (who?) business plan.
