Just a quick thread, thought it might be useful to some folks...
I've been looking around at seat covers for a while. My Monty's front seats are pretty beat and I mainly use it as my property maintenance truck for our rental properties (when I am not camping or off-roading). I'm always getting in and out with mud from a crawl space or covered in roofing tar. Anyway, I decided I'd spring for some cheap seat covers. I've dropped some serious change on fancy seat covers in the past, and my experience has largely been you get what you pay for, but this time was different. I got some Cabelas "Trailgear" low-back covers the last week. They are, no joke, like $19 a cover. I got a extra Gerber Knife (for $9) and got the $6 shipping for free. I have to say, I am really impressed with them. I've paid 10x as much for covers that weren't much better. They are "universal fit", but do quite well for the Gen 3 Monty (the cut out for the seat controls doesn't match, but it is easy to feel it through the cover). You'll fiddle with them a bit when you put them on, but if you go slowly, you'll achieve a really nice fit. They are very well made, from decent material the has a quality feel, and are a nice fit for our SUVs. One issue I have always had with covers is that they look okay when you put them on, and then twist into a terrible fit after a few entry/exit uses. These hold themselves in place very well. The "Tan" matches our interiors pretty well, and they don't have any chemical stink (as best as I can tell). Wish they didn't have the branding, but it's not huge. No, they're not as nice as custom fit Coverkings that cost $150 per row, but they're about 85% as nice and a great deal at their price. Anyway, if you're looking for some inexpensive seat covers, that are fairly nice, seem like they will age well, and don't want to spend a fortune, these will do the job.
(The strings in the seats are left over because I didn't want to cut them until I knew I was keeping them, but I'm definitely keeping them).
