Nikon D810 setup question

If anyone has a D810, I could use a little help: I am flummoxed by the memory card slot set up. I want to to shoot RAW to the CF and JPEG to the SD

I have it set up in the shooting menu as follows:

Primary slot selection: CF

Secondary slot function RAW+JPEG / > RAW primary - JPEG secondary.

The computer shows the imagines on the SD are 36 MB NEF files (same for the CF) and I always have two cards in the camera.

What step am I missing?

I would format both cars again in the camera

On the D600 -
In the "shooting" menu, do you have "Role Played by card in slot 2" to "Raw slot 1-JPEG slot 2"? .

That is how mine is set up and all RAW show up on card1 and all JPEG show up on card2.

I format the cards after every shoot and I still get RAW on both cards

It's looking like a potential firmware issue.

I have the D800/E, so I don't know if this part of the menu is the same.
With your settings, and only "raw" selected under "Image Quality", I got the same result.
But when I specified under "Image Quality"(also selectable on the turret) Raw plus Jpeg, I got what you want: raw to the CF and JPEG to the SD.

Figured it out: needed to set image quality option to RAW + JPEG. I had it set set to RAW only thinking the option for slot two would assign JPEG there. Two different menus. Live and learn.
