Nissan Has A "Massive" Plan To Save Mitsubishi From Near Death

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Well they neutered Pathfinder and the Patrol, killed the X-terra hopefully they'll do the opposite with the Mitsu line. Performance division maybe?

Maybe revitalize the Dakar history and keep the Montero line going. Does very well globally, lacks any marketing here. I would seriously consider buying a Gen 4 if it were available in the US. My buddy has a house in Peru near a Mitsu dealer and he sent me pics. It was really nice!

Will be interesting to see what happens in Europe since a lot of the Mitsubishi models are rebadged as Citroens there and Nissan and Renault have a "strategic partnership" ... Citroen/Renault is like Ford/Chevy...

Has anyone seen the new Xterra? I had trouble finding anything. They may have decided to leave it alone from what I saw, but nothing definitive. It was a great seller despite all its issues until they let it die on the vine like the Titan. They did move the Armada back to Solid axle as well I think...Nissan is likely not the company to save them. Not strong enough or currently innovative enough.

they didn't neuter the patrol.

(In the US at least) We just got the Patrol back a few years ago and it's not like any of it's previous models, they went from a nice mid sized SUV with coil sprung solid axles and locking diffs to a bloated full size on full independent suspension. I'm sure it's great off-road but I can imagine a 3rd Gen Montero made longer, wider, lower with higher gears, a powerful V8, smaller axles and a more vulnerable undercarriage. I'll call that neutered.

I am amazed at how Mitsubishi performs so poorly in the US... they have some great marketing opportunities that they are not taking advantage of... the senior exec staff should be ashamed of itself. And Toasty is right... we're going to end up with a Mitsubishi Armada-Pajero thing. F that.

In very limited markets the older GR/GU is available. Traction control has taken the place of lockers and solid axles. And it's no longer a rugged vehicle, it's a luxury vehicle. Like the 200 land cruiser vs a 80 series.

If I lived in a country where they were available I'd probably buy one before they are phased out completely. New Patrol is a Lame-O for sure, especially looking where it came from so recently.

I'd really love one of the last Gen 2 Montero's, 2014 they quit making them in India.
