I've been thinking very hard on those Desert Runner wheels. They look great, a nice alternate to the Nismo wheels I always have a hard time finding. Then when they do pop up, finances won't allow me to jump on them...

I got really lucky to find the matching set of four. Had to drive 100 miles to get the fifth! Those Nismo wheels are great but they're unicorns.

And especially if you put a scratch on any of those unicorns...but I know what you mean. They normally ask for a premium to. Sometimes I see them go for a good price on XterraNation or ClubXterra, but they're in the US, so shipping north of the border wouldn't make it worth it in the end.

Last year I missed out on a set of 4, but I found a set of 5 a few months later on for the same price (C$350). I got them powder coated semi-gloss black, but they're not on yet; went to swap the tires on in spring, but the shop tore a bead (and broke the machine) one the first tire, so I've been waiting since April for new tires...MT/R Kevlars have been on backorder since. Finally going to upgrade from 32 to 33's, but none in either size is available. Since they're selling them to me at their cost, I'm going to wait it out and run on my spare set until the eventually come in.

I did get lucky and found 8 DR rims for less then half on what I paid for my other set from a Forestry company that was getting rid of all their remaining (abused) Frontiers and parts they had from their fleet, where most got wrecked. It wasn't a priority, but I couldn't pass that deal up. Just gotta keep on looking.

Loving that set up. What lights do you have and how did you mount to the bumper?

I've got a pair of Rugged Ridge 6" 100w halogens fitted with 35w 3000k HIDs, mounted on the front bumper. I cut into the front bumper and grill and bolted them straight to the front reinforcement bar right behind the bumper cover. Those two lights will be replaced with a pair of Generic Amber 6" long LED bars found on Amazon which will be mounted in the grill.

The roof light is a Generic 180w LED bar I found on Amazon. Also running some BlitzPro 6LZ LEDs for camp lights on the sides of the roof rack and rear.

I've been through a number of lights already for the front. Can't seem to find a good setup I like yet. I'm hoping this latest set will ice the cake for me.

My first post on the forum although I've been a follower for years now.

I have a 2009 Nissan Patrol GU 4.8 decked out for over land travel. It was a gift to me last year by High Royal Highness Sheikh Hamad Hamdan of Abu Dhabi so I could take it to Morocco for vacations and for touring the Middle East.
It has a Kaymar rear bumper with wheel carrier and twin jerry can holder, Black Widow Storage drawers, Autohome Columbus RTT, Long Ranger twin fuel tanks, home made swing out awning, twin batteries, 52lt on-board water tank for showers...a heat exchanger is being fitted soon, E-Lockers front and rear being fitted soon also.

My next trip is to Mongolia in 2016. I hope to discuss this trip with anyone on here who's been there.

Nice to see more Patrols on here. Have anymore pics of that rear bumper. Is it a dual swing out? I'm looking to put a rear bumper on my shorty and am currently gathering ideas.

The rear bumper is made by Kaymar of Australia. It's a dual wheel carrier or I can remove the left side send spare and put two jerry cans there instead. Infact one is water and the other is a BBQ grill that fits the space perfectly!Nissan 004.jpgnissan 003.jpg

I've been a Land Rover guy for the past 25 years and am learning about the Patrol and what it can do...so far I really like it!
