I love your Frontier, especially that bedlining you did on the sides! Weren't you saying that it was a local company in oregon that did it for you?

what going on Alex? I am over at Clubfrontier.org, but for you Xterra guys probably not much reason to look over there. I just got a set of TC arms on and getting my Radflos from PRG tomorrow or Friday. I can not wait to get some more travel out of it.
The bedlining is Xtreme coatings, they are out of Portland. basicly the same mix as Line-x but this place also does polymer coatings, traffic coatings and other wear/water proof coatings. great company and very reasonably priced. I asked him about doing the bumper and he quoted 120, prep and coat.

How's that working out? I'm betting my 6 is good to go for about 160K more miles or more, but I could certainly see swapping for a diesel at that point. From what I could read you get less hp and torque, but if you've a Gen1, that might not be the case.

sorry man...not sure what you are talking about. Gen1??

This is a Nissan Patrol motor, from a 1984 Patrol. It is going in my 1983 Patrol. This engine is a big increase in hp & torque from my stock N/A SD33.

RMP&O - my bad. For some reason I thought you had put that in an Xterra and I was comparing hp/torque from our motors (first generation and second generation) to what that puts out. Pure confusion on my part.

Having a diesel motor actually interests me, but only in the future. Right now my stock motor is running just fine so I'm not going to mess with it at all. However, when it finally gives up the ghost I could see trying to find a diesel to swap in (if I'm allowed by state laws and all).

My 04 frontier. It stared life as a 2wd but after one wheeling trip and caught the bug. Still finishing the 4wd conversion (should be done in another weekend or two). After that the plan is to lower it a little and to start on all the storage for the bed and in the cab to make it more overland friendly.

no worries man...there are better suited diesel engines out there for your truck then the SD33T. Pathfinders and Frontiers have some pretty solid diesel engines to choose from outside the USA. The guy who built my engine in Australia can basically get anything and ship it to your door.

this is me under the hood of a 1960 4W66 Nissan Patrol in Colombia, South America.

It was for sale at the time I saw it...I really had to restrain myself from buying it! This truck is sery rare anywhere in the world since this paticular model was only produced in 1960. It has some of the older gear like a 4spd tranny and full floating rear diff but a newer engine than the 1950's Nissan Patrols had. This exact body style was also only made in 1959-1960.

here is another one in Colombia, South America...

here is a 1950's Patrol in Australia, this is about a 1958 Patrol. This is only one of a 3 in Oz. The owner recently got it featured in an Aussie 4wd magazine.

Here is an unrestored example of a 1955 or there abouts Nissan Patrol in a museum in Japan.

and here is an example of a 1955 or so Patrol rotting in a Saudi Arabia junkyard. Ignore the "4W66" on the picture, we were discussing something! This Patrol along with 3 others like it now reside as rebar in a Chinese dam.

Just FYI...Nissan has been making the Patrol since 1951 and they are still made. So they have extensive experience making a 4wd! :sombrero:
