So it's been a while since I posted here, but I've sadly also had to change trucks. My Xterra's frame was badly rotten and I patched it up the best to could until find a replacement. The plan was another 2002-2004 Xterra but I couldn't find a clean (yellow manual) one, which only got worse during the pandemic as the ones that existed were asking close to if not over $10K USD. Considering I'm in Canada, the exchange, shipping and duties would be killer and as much as I love the truck, it wasn't worth that price.

I then came across an ad for a V8 Pathfinder, something I forgot existed.I did that that one as it was a a bit beat up for the price but found and got another one in great shape shipped
literally across the country from B.C. to Quebec. It likely didn't sell cause gas prices were ridiculous in B.C. at the time and it was a SMOD truck so listed as having a new transmission and I think it also scared people off because of Nissan's CVT reputation. I just recently passed the 3-year mark and have been working on getting it caught up on mods. I'll always miss my old Supercharged manual 5-speed Xterra, but the more I mod the R51, the less I do and the more it feels like "my" truck.

The gist of what's been done:
- Z1 intake, R8 ignition coils, 90mm GM throttle body, JBA long tube headers and UpRev tune
- Front and Rear TRE4x4 e-lockers and regeared from 2.9 to 3.36
- 3" Suspension lift with Airlift 2000 bags
- Falken 285/70r18 Wildpeak R/T tires
- Dual batteries with a 125w solar panel and Xantrex 2000w pure sine wave inverter
- Projector headlights, LED everything, light bars, signal bar and pods.
- Wam Wincher with 10K lbs winch and reinforced brush guard

Next big items are ASFIR aluminum skid plates, sliders and a Titan 200 amp alternator. Eventually a snorkel.

Upgraded my 2012 SL to a loaded 23 P4X last weekend. Plans are mild- hard tonneau and some Falken Wldpeak AT4Ws, fridge mount in the bed- so that it can be a 100% reliable, $0 repair/maintenance (outside of the usuals) truck.

This is the tow rig for the off road trailer and my gf's 12 Xterra will be the trail rig for exploring.

Sad to see all the matching go away, but I hope you're enjoying the V8 Pathfinder! There's one of those with a for-sale sign in the parking lot of my office right now... Pretty cool rigs! My wife and I have a V8 4Runner, and having that extra torque in a mid-size SUV is pretty fun.

It`s ok. I was looking at giving the trailer some TLC this year, but I also have a friend who's working on a custom camper for his Pro4X and I might/should pickup his old bed. The one issue with that is that I would start from scratch with a new frame, have to source an axle (it would be a C200K for all that I need) but also a bed topper and remake the whole rack system. Part of me like the idea to start from scratch as I have a clear idea on what I want and need. This one I learned as I went and added and modified to suit my needs. She turned out great, no complaints, but I could do way better with having proper foresight on the project. The only real complaint I have with the setup is that now the fuel doors are now on opposing sides.

I love the V8 Pathfinder and it makes me wish I would of changed it years earlier, but I also got it at the right time to get the TRE locking diffs going, and might be a reason why the R230 one came to be as I pushed it through various groups and even offered to buy more then one to get the 10 minimum to get them produced. To me the lockers changed the truck to make it what it should of been, a smaller version of the Y62 Patrol. They had an off-road model in the early years, but if they really have it some TLC. I love the power and just got the catback done a few weeks ago. Gave it some needed sound and woke up the motor even further. I`m trying to keep the mods relatively lightweight to enjoy the power. I do understand the frustrations with the rear independent suspension.

I know there`s always an argument on the V6 vs V8 4Runner, but I would surely of went V8. It's not just about peak numbers but the torque curve. It's sad to see the end of the V8s. Heck, the 4cyl-Turbo-Hybrid in the new Land Cruiser isn't really getting nice reviews and that's what`s going into the new Taco and 4Runner. But the V6T in the Lexus, that seems quite nice.
