Patrols are every bit as stout as Land Cruisers, some would say even more so. Definitely well put together. I like the high roof and aluminum front bumper is nice. So is the diesel.

No personal experience and cant comment on price.

170,000 certainly isn't bad at all, tires look like they might be worn.

There are a few build threads of similar generation patrols, I would start there, hopefully some of their owners will chime in here as well.

Problem is that in the US they have to wait 25 years to import compared to our 15, so they do not have as much access to these. Hope your search goes well

I've heard excellent reviews on those, and are one of my favorite overland rigs of all time. Several users on here have the Y61s, and should be able to lend some advice. Here is a very nice build thread

That would sell for about $7-9000 AUD here. Unbreakable, check for rust around rear side windows. These motors will give at least 500,000 km. without rebuild if regularly serviced (5000km). Get a steel bar, not alloy. 33" tyres would be good. Excellent factory rear LSD on these, may even have a factory locker, some did. Aftermarket turbo will really wake the diesel up. Cheers.

Patrols/Safaris have stronger axles than Crusiers. The TD42 diesel is known to be a well tested motor (a true mechanical diesel), when paired with Coils all around and a factory rear sway bar release these trucks are spectacular platforms.

I have personally owned two and they have never let me down on or off the road. This truck is the same as a GQ Australian spec patrol/Ford Maverick. The Safari just has a 24volt system and a highroof.
