Nissan Titan/FRP Flippac Build

OK now I'm getting it.

I was wondering why the awning off the back, makes perfect sense now. You've got yourself a great solution there for bad weather cooking and so on. The new fridge/stove slide will be great with that setup.

New dual-swingout bumpers too? You're going to town on that thing!

I'm still holding out for the Campmate, just sayin ...:ylsmoke:

There are just not any good bumper options available for Titans. The only swing arm bumper had reviews that it would vibrate loose and fall apart. I had given up and made provisions to store the gas and propane inside the rig when a new vendor popped up who makes custom bumpers. As it turns out he's just down in Riverside so I went for it. He's just as excited about the project as I am.

Once the bumper is done and the fridge/stove slide is in, we'll have the major work done (I think). I'm looking forward to checking it all out at the Rendezvous and then taking a longer trip shortly thereafter.

Apparently I need to add a lock to the Campmate!

Two simple mods, our old Slumberjack mattresses fit perfectly on the FP mattress to give us a little extra cushion. Our mattress is getting old and so are we!

My original idea of a net/hammock on the left side didn't work out so I modified it to fit under the FP hammock. So far it seems to work great for loose storage of all of our sleeping bags. When empty, it can be slid to the back to hold our shoes while we sleep.

And.. the big mod... the JK fridge/stove slide! :wings: I had some trouble with the plastic bedliner causing it to not be level and the base to buckle and get in the way. I was in a hurry so I just started over on two new holes and got it fastened enough for our trips this week. It works but at some point I'll put in spacers to avoid the bedliner issue or take everything apart and pull the bedliner out altogether. We used it on our trip to Death Valley and it proved to be an excellent setup. That Partner Steel stove is powerful! Trip report to follow probably after we get back from Carrizo Plain National Monument.

Double Swing Out Bumper

Picked up the custom double swing out bumper today! :victory: It holds gas and propane on one side and a single water can on the other side. I was mostly interested in getting the fuel and propane outside. The water is a bonus and perfectly situated for the kitchen setup.

Shruk has been down for a while now. I pulled everything out and the shell off. Then I removed the drop in bedliner and had the bed sprayed with Rhino lining. Now I can bolt directly to the bed more easily. I installed LED lights from Adventure Trailers (see above cabinet in the first pic). It lights six white or six red LEDs and has two power outlets up top.

I also bought a medical cabinet from a surplus store. It's all aluminum, seals, and is vented. I built a custom 100% extension drawer slide for it so it is easily accessible at camp. It's amazing how much it can store. I'm very happy with it. I think betwen it and my Campmate kitchen, I now have storage for all my kitchen gear, pots and pans, and miscellaneous stuff so I won't need any additional boxes for gear. I'll wait and see when we camp for the first time to be sure.

The end panels of the cabinet pop off with six metal strap buckles and are medium size tables. You can see in the third pic how the legs and shelf store and fully assembled in the last pic. I've left the back panel/table on but between both them, the kitchen setup is pretty much set.

I worked with Marty at MWE Racks to design a semi custom bike rack that would fit with my two swing outs. It is super beefy and he built it with more rise than usual as well to give more departure angle.

Once extended, it allows the bikes to spin 360 degrees and completely out of the way of my swing arms and bumper. It can swing to either side of the truck as well, although here I only show it on one side. It's a little tight with the fuel can mounted but careful posiitoning allows the swing and fuel can to nest in between the two bikes when extended. This was a bit of serendipity, not careful planning and design.

If you want more info on MWE, I'm not affiliated with them in any way. Marty was great to deal with. I told him what I needed and he made it happen. High quality, heavy duty gear that comes with a lifetime warranty. www.mweracks.com

Awesome build, Shruk! This makes me wish I hadn't sold my Titan last year. How does it handle offroad when fully loaded?

You know it's a brute since you owned one. I haven't noticed any difference off road to speak of. On road, with so much weight outboard of the rear axle, it can wallow a bit. I haven't had it off road yet with the bike rack but wouldn't expect much difference. If we're going to do any serious rock crawling or washboard we'd probably leave it and the bikes at home. We could manage but it would slow us down I suspect.
