No more knots

I found these awhile ago and finally had the chance to give them a try. I think they are pretty slick and easy to use.

Nite Ize Figure 9. I have 6 of them holding up my ENO Pro Fly tarp.

And when you are ready to pack it up, you dont need to remove them from the line....

Simple too. Its one of those things you stop and think about....

I bought a small figure 9 last summer, just to play with. I am not very impressed. It does not grip the cord reliably. It could be that I'm using the wrong size cord, or one with the wrong compressibility or sheath.

I also have a good repertoire of knots, so I'm not highly motivated to find alternatives.

While browsing a used bookstore, I came across a new knot (for me), the Tricorn loop by G Budworth.

I had that tarp stretched pretty tight. There was enough of a breeze to move the tarp around and they held without issue. Granted I only had it up 10 minutes.
