Normal looking front bumper for 2005 suburban

Trying to find a bumper that does not look like it came from the thunderdome. ARB has a decent one. The LC100 converted ARB is probably the best. Any others that are normal looking. There are also a few for the earlier suburbans etc, but most for the 2005 look terrible and are WAY TO BIG!

I did the same search years ago. Ended up with an ARB bumper, since I wanted to put a winch in it. For a 1500, I'd probably keep an eye out for a LC100 bumper and "convert" it, as the standard ARB bumper is pretty big for a half ton. It still looks huge on my 2500, really.

A brush guard from Ranch Hand was my second choice, but I found the ARB on Craigslist for a better price.

Most everything else was huge looking. One of the issues is that the frame on these trucks is really low. Much lower than the bumper, anyway. That means that covering it all up requires a huge bumper. The Ranch Hand brush guard was frame mounted, and could mount a lay-down winch, but not my 8274.

I'm running a 80 LC front bumper because it was smaller than the Chevy one, It takes a little fab work but the result I think is worth it.

You have to make some side pieces and adapt the Chev mount to the bumper. A few people have done it now....honestly, it's the BEST bumper you can get for the suburban/Silverado in that style.

What sort of modding did you do to get that to fit?

I was the first to take on this bumper modification 10 years ago. Another member there did a writeup of his modification for his own Tahoe, he used the bumper without a brush guard for his project. There are photos of the process at the end of the writeup here. Short list of the mods to the ARB bumper: the "wings" need to be shortened, the interior bumper mount side needs to be cut, and you need to use their Chevy bumper mount kit to tie the ARB to the frame. The fit kit needs a bit of modification as well.

After the bumper ends were trimmed I had the wings of the bumper repainted. Depending on witch fit kit it come with it not that bad to trim it up. 02tahoeMD was my big reason for doing the bumper. In the future I'm going to hide the wench control box and run a light bar between my spot lights.
