North Rim 7-3-10

Well, we decided to pack-up and spend Independence Weekend 2010 tooling around the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We left our house in Phoenix around 5 P.M. and met up with some friends at Jacob Lake Gas Station. We finally arrived at our base camp around midnight, the camp was nice and isolated and located right on the rim. First thing Saturday morning we loaded up and drove to Crazy Jug Point and then to Indian Hallow Trailhead. The next day (Sunday) we drove out to Parissawampitts Point and Locust Point. On Monday morning we cooked up a large breakfast and went our separate ways back home.

All in all it was a great trip but was way to short. Next time I would like to take a full week and bring my mountain bike. I have attached some photos…..

I was there a few weeks ago after not having been for years. While it's a lot more peaceful than the South Rim, it just doesn't have the wow factor.

However, dispersed camping on the Kaibab Plateau is priceless:

It might have been a short trip but it looks like it was a great one!
The north rim is so much nicer than the south simply due to the wide open camping options and amount of play time you can have up there.

I agree with your desire to stay longer and take a bike, post pics when you get back up there for that bit of fun :)
