Northern Lights over Lake Superior

Last night marked the first time I ever truly experienced 'intense' northern lights.
There have been 'greens' in the past, but red, yellow, green, some faint blues.. it was just incredible.

Here are a few photos. Afterward I of course was mulling what I could've done differently with the camera settings to get a better image. I'm confident that when this once in a lifetime photo-op comes around again; I'll be ready.

More pics are on our UPO Facebook Page

Long after the visible lights were over I could still capture faint reds in my photos.
Epic.

is that the recent occurrence? I heard ppl as far south as Georgia were able to see it.. and the red color is also a very rare occurrence.

You know how I feel about the aurora ... I'm just in awe of the pics you got. And plenty jealous!! So happy you got this amazing display, and were there to catch it.

Thanks for sharing

I was out with a friend doing a night mountain bike ride/photoshoot, turned out to be probably one of those once in a lifetime biking sessions... Here are a couple of teasers he snapped of me

The entire sky was lit up with reds, greens, blues. We were in a great location with no light pollution. They were so intense that I could capture them with my iPhone, but it was malfunctioning so I don't get any myself.
