Just went through the thread in it’s entirety. Great work, lots of inspiration for my build.

Thanks- its been a little challenging, but its been a really good vehicle and the wife and I are always surprised with it's capabilities. I also commute in the vehicle and its quite comfortable- though it won't fit in the parking garage when I get around to making the roof rack. Feel free to ask questions if you have any. I'm looking forward to your build!

I had the same issue with my Disco, once the rack was installed it couldn’t fit anywhere haha. I will definitely take you up on some advice in the future.

Finally finished up a few small projects. Installed the rear panhard bar from Adventure Driven Design as well as their 1" rear heavy duty springs. Install was straight forward in the springs- especially thanks to this quick tutorial video.
While there I installed their longer rear brake line and a fresh new longer breather hose to aid with the rear articulation. Installing the brake line was a small with some penetrant spray and two rounds of heat (spray, heat, spray, heat and one last round of spray). Bled all the brakes and noticed the front drivers side caliper was rather loose on the slides- so that will need attention here soon.

I also finished painting the front two wheels silver! Been on my to do list for too long. The project list is getting short!

I've also been trying out these Corbeau GTS-II seats for a while and they are fairly comfortable- but a little too stiff for the wife- so they are for sale if anyone is interested.

Please tell me - what is the exact model of the seats and the seat bracket installed - i love those!

Its a tight fit, but it works! The filter needs to have two pleats removed and of course, you will need to trim the lower grill supports on the hvac recirculation covers as seen in the pictures.

A quick update on the cabin filter. Replaced the unit today and it sure worked well!

Well - Time for an update!

Been driving and enjoying the Montero for years and have gone on several additional adventures. It has earned the name 'Raptor Red' after a favorite book of mine and also because its red(ish) and is painted with a Raptor Liner paint.

Anyways - not much has changed on the vehicle, though things certainly have for me. I now have a family and my priorities are shifting slightly as is the norm with such events. I've been contemplating an engine swap (like the turbo diesel that Toasty is swapping into his Monty) but my time with my family is now more valuable than time to wrench on the car for fun. As such, it is sadly time to sell Raptor Red, my favorite Montero along with much of the hardware, spares, heater and such...

I'll be listing it up on this forum in the near future and locally here in Denver. I've gotta clean it up, do an oil change, check on some of the overall maintenance of car and get some good pictures. In light of this, based on the content of the build thread, I'd greatly appreciate people's thoughts on a reasonable price (via PM) for the Montero and all the goodies. If your are interested, send me a pm.

Killer deal for sure. I think the only reason it hasn’t sold is the raptor lining. Unfortunately buyers don’t really like it. But good luck with the sale!

That is most likely the case, but it's also one of the best parts of the car honestly. Super low maintenance, incredibly tough, makes the interior a little more quiet and gets lots of positive attention ironically enough. I think people just like to check it out as it's different.

I am shopping for A 2.5, I have no interest in that coating. If you rig had original paint I would be interested.

I know it's been a while since anyone posted on this thread but I wanted to say I am the proud new owner of Raptor Red. I bought it a little over a month ago to replace my Isuzu Trooper build. I've been eyeing an older Montero for quite sometime and once I came across this one I had to have it. I've already taken it out on a couple trails and this thing is a beast. Me and Zerodrift have actually gone out together on the trails. I'm really excited to keep this build going down the road. I'm looking to build/add rock rails and hopefully a roof rack.
