Well,
We took a road trip in our newly acquired expedition rig and slept in the camper for 2 nights.......awesome to say the least !!! confortable and warm - happy campers.

Anyhow,
My wife and daughter go to horse events and want the same scenario (crap $$$) She currently drives an 01 4door taco 4x4, we stopped by the local toyota dealership and they are offering 0% for 5 years on the Tundra Trucks

They offered a CrewMax TRD, Sonar, SR5 for 38K...with a trade in value of 9K..hard to pass on this deal.

My question to those with experience?
Should we go with the Tundra Double Cab or the CrewMax

Nother wrench in: She & Family are HUGE ford fans...go with a Diesel ford truck ?, camper + Horse trailer + hills = ?

More seating room -vs- more bed space.

We are going to go with a new Four Wheel Camper, what model fits?

My new rig that we have been enjoying to the fullest and got her thinking and hooked on the idea.

It would seem to me that if your pulling horses(how much does that weigh anyway) with a camper a diesel would definitely be the way to go. Doesn't the tundra with the crewmax have a payload of like 1500lbs?

If Ford is the only choice for diesels, the 2010 Superduties are so overshadowed by the 2011 model they are probably offering some really big incentives.

You have a good problem!

That Little Red Toyota and camper is a nice setup, of course the full size camper and Tundra will be SWEET too! Good luck on the setup, and keep us posted! :victory:

Just bought a CrewMax myself.
Cant help with which one, CM or DC. I chose the CM cuz I live in snow country and like to put as much stuff in the cab as possible to stay out of the weather, also have kid and wanted reclining backseats for long trips with easy sleeping. It is VERY roomy in the cab, can still get 3 motos in the back with the gate down- not ideal but just fine. 1575#payload -not much, but poptops will fit :
FWC hawk
Haulmark Milner LX- my choice so far
Northstar TC650

If i was towing ALL the time, i would get a diesel. Too many issues nowadays with the new diesels for a DD. Have many deisel friends with many probs. all makes, I hope the Tundra is better.

Your Taco 4x4 4door if in ok shape will EASILY and QUICKLY sell for 10K+ private party. If not well into the 15K range if it has low miles and is in great shape. I was shopping hard for one and ready to buy when Toyota came along and started giving away Tundras- here i am :)

I paid 36163 +tax/lic. which was just below invoice. CM 5.7 TRD4x4, Sonar, Buckets, B/Ucamera, XM/bluetooth/steering wheel controls, Running boards, Cold/Tow pckg.,DRL, heated/power mirrors

Dont pay above invoice. Check the inventories of Dealerships at www.buyatoyota.com and regions have the same configurations of rigs so they can do easy dealership trades.
I was able to contact 6 dealers with the same basic truck and then let them fight for the sale.
Get invoice price off www.edmunds.com or www.kbb.com then you have your base price. I have heard of many people getting way less than invoice- i didnt have the time to play.
Found the basic truck configuration, called the dealers and said i didnt want to play, first dealer to beat invoice gets a sale, gave them my phone #, they called back close to invoice, i say try harder, one dealer did me right VERY quickly- VALLEY TOYOTA www.hanfordtoyota.com Kara. The rest are still calling to give me a better price.

It may be worth your $$ to check the Northern Cali Dealers- Toyota has a special N.CA deal with 0% 5yr, $3000 match on down pmt., and 2 yr. service free. It was 3000 reasons for me to buy my truck from a N.CA dealer instead of my local. Too bad for them.
Contact Kara from Valley toyota and tell her Aaron from Mammoth sent ya. Maybe itll get you a deal. ;0

I have an 2007 crew max and it has been the best truck I have ever owned period! I have around 80,000 miles at it has no rattle, wind noise, or sloppy steering. I am also looking to buy a truck camper and am having serious problems on finding the right one for my families needs and one that will fit into the truck and still allow me to tow a trailer. So know I am thinking of a new Ford Super Duty and trying to see if I want to start all over with a payment book. If you think you'll need a bigger truck in the future my advice is to buy the right one first.

There was a guy on my last desert trip with an '09 Tundra regcab 4wd w/8' hardwall camper. He was hating life as the handling was dangerous with pitch, yaw and extreme sway. He was running the stock "P" rated tires and stock suspension. All I could suggest was to go to ORW and see what was available for Tundras and to chuck the passenger tires for some E rated ones. The camper salesman fed him the typical"It'll handle fine" line that they all do. 9 mpg was a plus too.

He had to be talking about trading in the wifies rig...01 Taco 4dr 4x4, or something else.

He just got that red Yota. Or maybe you guys are just messing with him. No way that red rig is getting traded in.
