Oakland/Bigfoot 20' Class C 4x4

We were in need of a little more room with our family growing, so the search was on for something that was still short and nimble enough to go where we want and still have the amenities and space to do it comfortably. Thought i'd post up a couple pics i took when i pulled it out of the shop for the first time on saturday after completing the Ujoint 4" 4x4 conversion.

Some quick specs that helped in our decision making and selecting this unit, that are unique to the Bigfoots are the a foam filled aluminum frame construction with Fibercore foam injected walls, roof, and floor all R=12 insulation, the heated and sealed holding tanks, a true 4 season. It has huge underbelly storage and side ski locker/storage compartment. My wife was most excited about the shower/bath combo and i'm excited about the length and that we were able to get all the things on our wish list and still only be 1/2' longer than our extended length sportsmobile.

Its a 1995, one year only production for the 20' Motorhomes, 1 of only a hand full built for North America spec. They were originally built for the Japanese market with a small production run.

Still have lots to do, one thing i'm looking for is a old school warn front winch bumper if anyone knows of one available.

Huge thanks goes out to Chris at Ujoint for excellent customer service and a great product, highly recommended!

We'll here's a couple quick pictures.

Not to mention...made right there in Canada (B.C.)!

Your right! can't believe i forgot the best part haha Thanks!

I did look into the Bornfree and Chinooks, both fantastic fibreglass, very well constructed units, just were not 4 season capable if your wanting to use septic and water.

Awesome rig! I love the all fiberglass models. Very nice for keeping long term. No water issues...

Is it 20' overall? Thats nice and short! Let see some more pictures. Hows the interior layout?

Nice rig for sure, wish there were more than size available

Thanks, if your wishing about them building other lengths, they did. They built 24', 27' and 30' ish ones all the way up to 2008. This particular coach size (20') was built for the Japanese market with a few changes, entry door on driver side and floor plan flipped, these very few were made for north america as a number of people here wanted this length rather than the 24' at the time so they produced a few.

I'll get some interior shots up soon, it has a large overhead bed, good sized dinette and a side bench/sofa that folds down to a bed, it even mates with the dinette if desired to make a huge lower bed, rear fibreglass enclosed shower/bathroom with rear corner kitchen. When i first got in it i couldn't believe how spacious it felt inside compared to the overall coach size, good layout.
Water is always an RV's worst night mare and the fiberglass sure is nice, BUT sometime it still finds its way in. I bought it knowing that water had got in at the old antenna and ran down the interior side wall. I took it out to Gilmay RV Repair in Vernon (he is the son of the bigfoot founder) and specializes in Bigfoots and had him put a new roof and a new interior wall panel on. Rebuilt the man door and fixed a number of little issues. They did an amazing job.

Below is a pic from the day i picked it up and shows the F150 as a reference for size.

Nice setup.

I have a Warn winch bumper for sale but it was converted from an F series (ends cut off to suit 35" tires). It does bolt straight up to the E series horns.

Actually doesn't look bad at all with the ends cut off, let me give that some thought. Did you have to modify it to bolt up to the E series or does the mid 90's F series actually bolt right up to the vans?
i've been leaning toward that same bumper but with the upper brush guard added, similar to the Chinook Baja's made by warn.
Thanks for offering it, i am interested.

I had to modify it. The F and the E are totally different. The Warn bumper is really a skin bolted up to a new subframe that holds the winch and bolts up to the horns on the van frame. 8 1/2 grade 8 bolts.

Very cool. I have a slightly newer 24' but would have preferred a 20', given the choice. BTW, which front shocks did Chris put on yours, and how do you like them?

I was actually looking for a 24' when i came across this one, it was a hard decision for me as i wanted that permanent rear bed. I'd love to see some pics of yours!
I ordered the single Bilstein 5100's, so far i really like them, it handles and rides soooo good.

Awesome. I need to replace the POS ranchos on mine and was considering a dual fronts, but sounds like a setup similar to yours would work.

We're heading out in the rig next week for spring break and hitting the following: Santa Fe - Phoenix - Sedona - Valley of the Gods - Canyonlands - Moab. We're bringing mountain bikes and trail running shoes, boondocking every night, and staying on dirt roads as much as possible. I'll definitely snap some pics.

Thats awesome! The first big test for mine will be Moab, we are heading there the end of April with dirt bikes and side by sides. Looks like i'll just miss you. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.
