Hey do put anything over the center bar so you don't wack your elbow or knees on it? Also is there a better mounting solution other then the clamps that come with it?

Mnfeo2, I have a piece of 3/4" foam in mine mainly for some insulation, but no bumps or bruises from the center bar.

I use the c-clamps for mounting, works fine for me. I've seen one person that drilled holes thru the legs and roof rack, then uses quick release pins to attach it.
