OBS truck bed dimensions

Anyone by any chance know the actual specs for a factory 8' bed for an OBS (9th gen, '97) F series? By my measure its about 76", but for some reason that doesn't seem right. Specs for a flatbed are 80". Trying to figure out what width a rear bumper will need to be, and what the hangover amount might be if a 80" bed is used (as compared to the cab). I realize the factory bed width is, maybe 2-3 inches narrower than the actual spec due to the fender flares?

Also wondering if anyone knows the outside length as well. By measure it's 8' 6"? Just wanting to cross-reference before making any decisions.

Hard to believe any pickup with an 8’ bed would only be 76” inside. A sheet of plywood wouldn’t fit with a closed tailgate.

97-98” much more likely, although I do not have one to measure.

The cab width at the widest is roughly 78"

The 76" you reference is probably bed rail width, as the bed narrows a bit going up, matching the profile of the cab.

Thank you much. My measurement was attempting to get exterior max width of the bed poor mans style. I figured it would be off a tad. So looks like you only have maybe a 2" overhang on either side with your pics then, which I think would be acceptable.

Yeah, roughly 2" on the old truck.

More like 7/8" on the new truck. Its a bit wider.
