Off-Road E-Bike Advice – Kids & Adults

Good day all, I’ve been digging around for solid opinions on ebikes for off-road use, but haven’t found much that’s truly helpful yet.
I’m currently looking to get an off road electric bike for myself and a dirt bike for my 9-year-old son. I’m leaning electric for both of us. For kids, Kuberg, Oset, and Torrot seem to be the top contenders. I’m leaning toward Torrot based on specs and features—I especially like the ability to control his bike’s settings remotely.
For myself, I’m considering the Electric Motion Escape or Escape R. I’m not too fussed about having a clutch, though I can see how it might be useful in certain situations. I’m also open to other suggestions for full-size, moderately lightweight off road electric bikes—ideally something outside the usual Surron/Segway options.
Would love to hear from anyone with experience in this space, especially with kids’ ebikes.
Thanks in advance for your insights!

probably not what you're looking for, but bought a Specialized Turbo Levo this year and it's a lot of fun. Still a great workout if you want, too.

The market seems to have matured quite a bit the past few years and I have more trust in the established brands of MTB that they'll hold together in the rough stuff way off road, and over the long term. And be able to get parts a few years down the road

I agree, go with a legit bike shop brand. Trek, Specialized, Giant, REI, whatever is convenient to you. If the kid isn't impaired in some way I question the need for an ebike, exercise is good.

What ever you do get a mid drive model, not hub drive. Such a huge difference being able to use your gears.

I am 65 years old and really enjoy my Trek Rail 9.7. It will easily do 20-30 miles of up and down single track trails. On flat trails it will get 50-60 miles. It is a class 1 so you have to pedal to get the electric assist to kick in, no throttle. I can't help on the electric off road/dirt bike.
