Oil Pressure Question

Observer
Hey all, I have a 1997 E250 with the Triton V8. I had her out and about this weekend and noticed that the oil pressure seemed a little high. It never got out of the white lines and into the red, it was just always towards the top end. I was doing a lot of elevation and it was in the upper 80's. I was just wondering if anyone else had seen the same thing and wondered?

P.S. a shot from the trip.

Before making any assumptions about the oil pressure, check it out using a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Could be just a bad sending unit on your stock one.

High is better than low!

No, it is not.

Id be much more concerned about above normal pressure readings than below normal, as it typically is the result of some sort of blockage or thickened oil.

Ironhead, you yourself said that it never reached the red. So it is still in the "normal" range according to the gauge you have.

If you are still concerned, I would install a real gauge to verify. Though gauges are not all that accurate themselves, they are a means to show trends.

How long and how many miles since the oil has been changed? Oil thickens as it oxidizes and absorbs soot.
