Old Engel not powering on

Hey guys picked up a 39L Engel MRFT-540E-G4 for nothing but the catch is it won't turn on. The only sign of life I get is an indicator LED coming on with 12V (but not 240V) but I figured that repairing it would be cheaper than buying a decent one second hand.

Any suggestions of common issues with these? Google doesn't really give me anything and even the Engel site doesn't have this one listed as a previous model, so I can't find the parts catalogue to search for it.

If the main board is fried expect a $300 bill !

thats what they quoted me for an MT45 main board....

So instead I removed the board - made the fridge 12 V only and went and brought a 12V computer power supply for $30 and rigged that up.


Engel were quite good in sending me the manuals and electrical dwgs for my fridge- try them as a first place to fault find your unit

if your lucky itl be a losse wire somewhere !

Thanks for the tips - $300 is still a lot cheaper than a working replacement, they seem to go for about $500-700 on eBay locally.

it could just be the power supply ($200). Call Engel in Jupiter FL, ask for Sam. He was able to trouble shoot my MT-45. Mine ran fine on 110, but did not on 12v. the power supply was shot.
